  1. Happy Birthday Jules, it's my birthday today too! By the way, there is nothing wrong with sitting in a chair outside studying!
  2. Keep going! Do not listen to your instructor, he is just weeding people out. You now know what more you need to do, how he tests etc. I am not done with A&P yet (3 more weeks ) and I have been up and down, pass one test, fail another, pass one, barely pass another. I am an older student and have three kids and work. It has been hard, but I am learning just how much studying I have to do. Usually when I failed a test something was going on with my kids (concerts and projects) where I just didn't have enough time to study. I will pass this class and I know how much studying I have to do to succeed in my nursing classes. Keep going, you can do it! Make flash cards and test yourself over and over. Good luck
  3. Fun2Care I can see pros and cons to both ways of testing! :icon_hug: I do know that when I had an extra week to study due to influenza I only got 5 wrong on the test. I just think that A&P classes in general shove way too much stuff at you and expect you to purge it out at a whim. I just know that in my class we have had over 100 drop already and of the people who are left only 27% are passing. Something is wrong with that picture.
  4. I am so nervous. I have to take a make-up test tomorrow for lecture and I just looked at everyones grades and it looks like only three people have passed. Our school has changed A&P to include so much. We are having tests every other week on 6 or more chapters, no one is able to get through. Even the nursing instructors are commenting on how soon we won't have any nursing students because of the sciences. We even have two take home tests that we never even touch in class just to cover it all. So far I am barely skimming by with an 80%, but after the test tomorrow I may not.
  5. I have an interview in the morning for a CNA in L&D and I do know they get floated over to well baby when needed. I did interview for the same position a year ago without luck. I am nervous and have been so worried about what to say what not to say. Any advice? Every one I talk to says I should tell them about my children, birth, what I have experienced. I don't think it is the right thing though. Do you have CNA's? What do they do? From the interview last year I remember they work right with the nurse, but with no med administration, of course. They are also in charge of fetal demise, doing molds and prints etc.
  6. On our grading scale a 73 is a D. :angryfire
  7. I am so happy to hear so many are doing well on their tests. Kudos to you! I would like to know if there are any people struggling already? I am not in the position I thought I would be in at this point. Right now I have a low C. Basically I am trying to get used to school and tests again since it has been 14 years. I have three kids and work. This has been hard. I can't get to the practice lab or study groups like a lot of the others are doing. I want to succeed, but now am scared I won't. Now, I have the added pressure to maintain and bring up that C! I am studying 3 hours a night, taking notes and making flash cards, but I don't seem to have "enough" time to drill it all in before the next test. Again, congratulations to the students doing so well.
  8. Right now I am a pre-nursing student and can already feel the stress. I was wondering if I changed jobs and worked as a CNA and only worked nights Friday, Saturday and Sunday if that would help with the time spent studying. I think if I did this it would need to be pm's but most likely nights since my husband works often during the day on the weekend. I don't know anyone I can personally ask what they do or don't like about working only the weekends. If you work this way or have can you tell me the pros and cons. Thank you, I appreciate it.
  9. I will be taking it 2/11 so I can post about it then. I did buy the study book and have reviewed that.

  11. I am trying to not make that decision right now :chuckle With my family I know that clinic hours work the best and make me happiest. Heck, I will probably have to get a job as a medical assistant when I am done since LPN's are rarely used where I live. I chose to go for the LPN because it does offer me more options than the MA. I can work as an MA, ICU tech, IV tech, periop tech or continue on for RN once my children are much older. So I will make that decision when the time comes and leave my options open until then.
  12. Can I join :chuckle I also am nontrad at 31 with 3 kids aged 10, 7 and 4. I am taking A&P by itself because I went through it once before and dropped. I was 18 and too young to care. Now, I could kick myself. It will be great to have a group of us to help get through it. I won't have time to go to study groups.
  13. I just received my confirmation letter from my school for my class and book and the only information it gives me is "Anatomy & Physiology, Seely" I have looked at eBay and half.com for this book and neither place has it. Where else can I look? Thanks
  14. hi, i am sure you have this information by now, but i just registered today so thought i would answer. cna's in a nursing home will make around $9.00 an hour. state homes will be a little higher especially if you don't need benefits. if you choose to work at one of the hospitals i think gundersen lutheran pays $9.49, franciscan skemp starts a little lower for every job. http://www.gundluth.org http://www.mayohealthsystem.org good luck
