A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

OK, thanks!

I did buy the Netter notecards but for now I am making my own for all the terms.

I feel that I have to study as much....thanks again for your insight and comments!

Pasha :)

I spend ALMOST every waking minute studying for A&P1, but that is what I feel "I" have to do.

I have made notecards as well. Also, we downloaded lecture notes from our class ecampus, and I added the actual class notes I took to those. That way I study anything and everything that may even remotely be on the test.

A&P 1 is a bunch of memorization, so constantly studying is better than a cram session. GET IT IN THAT LONG TERM MEMORY!!! :selfbonk:

Good luck! :icon_hug:

Definitely get it in the long term memory. The number I've heard is it takes at least 7 times going over the material to get it into your memory. And collect all those little tips you can. For instance, the dorsal fin on a shark is the one on the back.

What helps me with memorizing body parts is to teach someone and actually point out the body part on yourself as you do it.

I do feel a lot better now that I had a good nights sleep.I looked at the lab manuel and it supports the lecture.Im taking each page very slow.Do any of you know what that sentence is to remember all the systems? I forgot to write it down last night.

Hello!

I am also taking A&P I this sememster...

I was just wondering how much time everyone has been spending studying and their process...

Pasha :)

I took 2 hours yesterday morning, and 2 hours this morning and I am almost done with this weeks work (i am in an online class). Then I will just go over my notes everyday, and read over the previous lesson notes also. We also have to write a lot of short essays in this class, some that are turned in some that are not, so I will also read this over every night.

Ugh! This is going to be a long semester.

Rebecca

So I'm Ms. Flaky now.

Totally messed up and only figured out that the Stats test was today this morning. Oh, well did ok. My fellow students should thank me, becuase I convinced our instructor not to test for section 3.3. Ran into him in the hall and he told me we were testing form Chap 1-3.3. Looked in my notes and went to find him in his office becuase he hadn't taught it yet.:uhoh3:

Guess I was busy obsessing about A&P. Does anyone else feel this way? I felt fine about the first two chapters about basic anatomy/directional stuff and chemistry. But I must have gotten that deer in the headlights look the past two classes when we started the cells lecture.:chuckle

Well just got my first test scores in and I got an A on the first test. Although I know that this is by far the easiest test it still feels good to do well. How did everyone else's first exams go?

I made a 93.2 on my first lecture test and a 100 on my first lab test.

Congratulations to all those who have taken and passed their first exams!!!!! My first exam in A&P isnt till 2/8 so I will let ya all know what I get. Its that first test that really gets you, not knowing what to expect or how the format will be like tricky questions. After the first test though, I usually get more relaxed. :balloons: :balloons:

Well, it may take 7 times to get it into my longterm memory.....but another 400000 times to be able to recall it!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I do have a few little tips for types of glandular epithelium excretion:

Holocrine: HOLOcrine=HOLOcaust - Cell ruptures causing death of cells

Apocrine: APocrine=A part Pinches off

Merocrine: MErocrine=Mini-droplets (think of sweatbeads)

released bye Exocytosis

Hope this helps someone!
