4550- Evidence Based Nursing

Nursing Students Ohio University

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

I did not hear about that. You awakened my inner gossip girl now lol

I just happened to stumble across it a few days ago, it's not in the Ohio U folder here. Had to do a search to find it again:

very interesting... and an easy mistake to make. I asked several people to proof read my papers several times in 4510. I'm sure they do have a software program that scans papers for uncited text.

Thank you for sharing the link. It is indeed very interesting, unfortunate, and yet plagiarism. Which brings me to ask a question: Is it plagiarism if someone uses their own old papers or portions of it? Any ideas about that?

I googled and found several different opinions. Here is one from the Information Literacy Blog

: To Cite or Not to Cite: It's Never a Question

" ....It's your work, you own it, so it's not plagiarism, right?

Right.

It's not plagiarism.

But what it is is unethical. Plagiarism is obviously unethical, but so is recycling your own work."

Does anyone know what OU's Rules say about it?

Thanks for the info. I know I could have googled it myself but I just used up my brain doing assignments all day lol I looked into the code of conduct policy at OU and it did not state anything about using previous work, as far as I could tell at least. I think it all depends on the situation.

There is actually something called "self-plagiarism" that is addressed in a whole paragraph in the sixth edition of the APA manual on page 16. It seems that it really somewhat depends on the situation.

I must have totally missed the cut and paste fiasco. What was that??

Do you remember all the "perfect scores" on the midterm and the final? Cut and paste from someone. I can see a couple of people, maybe scoring highly but not very many. It was enough to kill a curve.

I agree, foolishness. Why take the risk, waste money, and loose the chance to complete the degree. I'm a big chicken. I wouldnt risk it.

Still need to do ONE reply post. Working the evening shift...so trying to squeeze it in somewhere.

Does anyone understand what they are asking us to do for the week 5 assignment? I emailed the TA and she has not responded. I was wanting to go ahead and get it done as soon as I could.

I'm a bit confused as well. I understand the first part, but the second part about the articles is confusing. Let us know if you hear any details!
