Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
Guess I Should have checked snopes before posting...what a NICE discussion this is!
For politicians, West Virginia had Harley Staggers, and then Harley Staggers, Jr. Best name evah for a WV politician, considering how much all of the state's legislators were rumored to imbibe, lol.
I may have already mentioned the Southern Oregon pol from the '70s named Jack Ripper.
I was at Payless shoes one day in Wichita KS (13 yrs ago) and I swear to God, I heard a lady call to her daughter, "privy parts, privy parts, come look at these shoes."

La-a is quickly gaining ground on the Jell-O twins.
Slight rant: Hey, if you're going to post about La-a, please do yourself a favor and look her up on Snopes.com under "languages." Some of these are quite entertaining, (the recent "Fairy Queen" and my latest favorite read over the last few months: Fartun Gas), but some of these are either put ons by residents or a friend of a friend of a friend or a friend heard it and SWEARS it's true.
OK, I'll get off my soapbox and maybe I'll stop reading here for a bit as I'm getting to the same point I did when I was pregnant and I threatened in my profile to "Guess My Baby's Name: Female, Orangello, or Lemonjello." I do remember the feeling of wanting to pull my hair out, but I blame the pregnancy hormones.
I went to school with a Harmony and Melody Song they were twins. Wow i haven't thought of them in yrs. Last time i knew ( We graduated in 81) they were going to college to be Dr's i wonder if they indeed became Dr's. Wow how times fly.

"Marijuana Pepsi" is not an urban legend.http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/34641678/ns/today-today_people/
And "Arreola", with 2 r's, is a fairly common Hispanic surname.
Thanks for posting the video! I found it interesting. :)
I thought I had named my son something "odd" after awhile, but now I don't feel like that anymore.
My son's name is Gabriel, and whenever he would have his name called out somewhere (like at the doctor's office), the person calling it would say "Gabrielle". Happened every time. =/
