I am a nursing student and I just started precepting. I am doing 12 hour shifts and my feet are killing me! (Even though the time goes by fast.) I just wanted some different opinions on the different shifts out there.....
Some nurses swear by New Balance shoes. I love my Beirgenstocks.
Get 2 pair NEVER ever wear the same pair two days straight. Your shoes need time to recover too. They last longer this way as well.
Check with a podiatrist. You may have flat feet, plantar faciatis, or even high arches. Any of these can cause foot problems.
Absolutely get a good shoe.
It might not be or just be your feet that are the problem. Try some graduated support or compression hose.
Put your feet up on breaks.
Masague those tired puppies. My daughter got me a contraption that is a series of wooden dowels that are knobby and rotate as I roll my feet over them. Hand massage your feet too. Or better yet get someone to do for you.
