Thank You email VS. personal hand written

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

hello all, I recently had an interview on friday for my dream job. I was wondering which would be better to send a Thank you email or a personal hand written Thank you card. I don't want to seem or come across too desperate. PLEASE HELP ASAP! thank you!!!

I think either is fine. I've done both. However, if you know or suspect that they will be making a decision in the next few days, I would opt for an email.

I think it depends on the situation. As "klone" said, if you think they'll be making a decision soon I would send and email. If they told you they won't be making a decision soon, a hand-written note is a better choice. When I went for my interview a few weeks ago they basically said I pretty much got the job as long as my references were ok and that I should be hearing from them soon. With that in mind, I emailed as soon as I got home, and also sent a note in the mail right away. It turns out I got an offer two days later so I'm glad I emailed.

I think that a handwritten letter is the more traditional option and is certainly very impressive; however, these days an e-mail is perfectly acceptable because hiring decisions are often already made in the time that it takes to receive a handwritten letter from an applicant.

I decided to do a hand-written note and personally delivered it (I live really close to the hospital I interviewed at). I also feel that emails sometimes get lost on top of all the other hundreds of emails they get everyday. I read somewhere on this forum that someone said if you have a hand-written one or a card they might leave it on their desk and that'll help remind them of you as a candidate :)

Depends on the situation.. I just had an interview and the decision was going to be made fairly quickly, so I sent a personalized email thank you to both the recruiter and nurse manger that interviewed me... I put "thank you" in the subject and sent it!

I landed the job 3 days later!
