Is it ok to wear nail polish to a interview?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I know nail polish is usually a no-no at work. I work part time in psych and my facility allows nail polish. I have been taking advantage of this because a proposal is coming in the near future (don't know when) so I am keeping my nails and hands nice at all times.

Is it ok to wear a light colored pink almost nude nail polish to a job interview (psych)? I can always take it off then redo my nails, but figured if I can save myself some time I would. What does everyone think?

I don't see any problem with this. In fact, unless I was interviewing in nicu or something, I don't think i would go to an interview without nail polish on! I just think it looks better!!

Absolutely, as long as your nails are a moderate length and your polish is neat and a neutral color.

Yes. I even wear Lincoln park after dark to interviews. Lol

Love that color.

I think nail polish to an interview is okay. Nail length is more important. No long trashy acrylics please.

Agreed! Besides, fake nails are a literal breeding ground for all sorts of little nasties and don't belong on a nurse, period.

as long as your nails are neat and professional, i don't see why not.

I think it will enhance your fingernails and your outfit. I don't think it's inappropriate at all, especially if it's a nice color.

My nails are perpetually ratty looking, so I actually go out of my way to put a nice neutral polish on them! I usually try to do a French manicure look, since I think that looks cleanest and most professional.

My nails are awful looking. They never grow and cut short make my fingers look stubby. I get my nails done every two weeks with the shalac nail polish. I keep them nice and short, get a neutral color like "paris rose" or just plan nude and be sure to file them down as they grow. The shalac never washes off or chips as I clean my hands quite often.

I think tasteful and subtle nail polish on well-groomed nails is fine for an interview.

Dragonclaw-length acrylics, shocking colors (neon, green, etc.) and nail bling is not.

I do not see why not. Heck, I wear polish to work all the time and so do many of my coworkers.
