Hey yal,
I'm a new grad with no experience, I just landed a job making $21.40/hr, is this low for starters?

Hi and congratualtions on your graduation and first job.
There are a lot of variables in pay for nurses. Area, cost of living, salary of other nurses, whether or not you are union.
21.40 is more than some and probably less than others. But, my opinion is that is a very good base rate for a new grad.

In north NJ, new grads get $23-25 per hour. Cost of living is high here though. From what I hear, thats good elsewhere.

The new grads that are starting with me tell me they are getting $18.00. That is normal for Pittsburgh where the cost of living is low.

That's approx. what new grads make here in Ontario...but you do move up the pay scale quickly if you work full time.

I'm in Louisiana, I'm not sure what new grads make. I have been a RN for 11 yrs and that's just $2 less that I make!
The local hospitals cap their nurses pay at $25.00.
Do they cap salaries in other states?

New grad here and I get twenty an hour. So, that seems like a good rate to me. I think the cost of living is low here, so my new wage seems really good considering my living expenses.

The day hospitals pay nurses no less than $30.00 per hour from newly licensed nurse and higher with the more years one has been working as a nurse will be a day I hope to live to enjoy!
The pay STILL sucks! We work very very very very hard and deserve to be paid as well as General Motors pays their janitors and assemblyline workers. We deserve to get paid as much if not more than plumbers, electricians, telemarketers, etc.
WHEN will that day come!!!!
