And this is why.

I've been starting to feel burned out on nights and probably ICU, but that's a whole 'nother story. I've been applying for anything and everything that I think would help break my current level of fatigue.

I get a call out of the blue yesterday from this guy I went to LVN nursing school with. We maybe talk once a year, and are on each other facebook pages. Limited contact, but still. Anyways, he asked if I would be interested in a case management job monday-friday day shift and basically assured me it was at least as much money as I'm making now.

No brainer here, he already forwarded my resume and I will be hopefully receiving a call soon for an interview.

Anyways, don't burn bridges, make them! :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Congrats!!! So true what you said.

i have gotten far more jobs and work (which is different) from personal connections than any other way. i try to pass it on whenever i can.

So true. It's about "who you know", not just "what you know". Hope you get the job! :)

Nice! Case Management is the toughest field to break into. This is a great opportunity.

I am FB friends with someone from high school. We chatted a little in HS, but never really hung out. Well, she knew I was a nurse, she knew I was looking for a new job and a friend of her's had posted that her company was looking for a medical case manager. She inboxed me, told me about it and got me in contact with her and I am currently in the interview process, on my second one tomorrow!

I am a firm believer of never burning bridges.

Interview is set! I'm getting pretty excited!!!

I second that notion of never burning bridges. You NEVER know when you are going to need someone.

You can always catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.

Be kind, respectful, honest, professional, and sincere and it will get you far.

keeping connections is wonderful but i would disagree with the notion " not burning your bridges" depending on why you burned it. in my case i have disconnected from many of my colleagues after nursing school. i was tired literally disgusted with the backstabbing and fakeness and all just to network so as to get a job. i still believe that respect is what is most important than selfish individuals who keep connections is hope of getting something someday.

please do not miss interpret me i am not saying your selfish or that this was the case. my philosophy is there is more ways to get across if you burn the bridge.

Awesome! I see you're in the Sac area? I creeped your posts lol! I'm married to a soldier and we just moved here a few months ago. Any tips for me to get started in ICU/ER? I'm starting lvn school in shortly, then bridging to rn. We're only here for 3yrs I need experience and quick!
