US citizen taking Philippine NCLEX

Greetings !

I am a US born citizen of the state of California, I took a BSN program in the country of Philippines. I recently graduated this year and for safety reasons I took the NLE or the local board just a few weeks ago just in case. (no results yet until Jan)

So while waiting and doing my self reviews for the NCLEX I want to know what do I need ? I want to take here in Philippines applying for California or Texas

1. I been searching the requirements for California all over the web and keep getting bombarded with useless info so please help me.

2. my friends says I dont need CGFNS because im a US citizen is that true ?

3. So how does this work when taking the nclex ? do i just submit my GRADES/SCRUBS/COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT to the BON and Im all set ?

4. Can I take the NCLEX without being an RN ? just a newly BSN grad.

*please note i read similar articles on this topic in this website but those are more than 2-4 years out dated so I want to make a new updated

CGFNS is for those educated outside the US and is not dependent on what country you are a citizen of.

CA does their own assessment and does not use CGFNS.

You follow the instructions from the board of nursing for licensing by examination as an internationally educated nurse.

Your clinical cases better be concurrent or you will find yourself in a very tough position. There are threads here regarding foreign educated nurses and the obstacles they find themselves in.

They are absolutely right about concurrency issues, most of the schools in the Philippines need to face that problem, but I read a post few days ago that she/he was able to get the ATT after winning against the issue with CA BON, the person mentioned that an analyst help him/her to review the cases from the Philippines and your citizenship doesn't affect your application to all 50 states as an IEN, if I'm not mistaken, because my husband is an IEN and a US Citizen but he needed to do all the requirements subjected for IEN. Since you also mentioned Texas, you need to have 2 years of working experience as an RN at any time after your graduation, without it, if you passed the NCLEX you will not be licensed until you've taken the refresher course, that's what I read because before I was choosing between Washington and Texas. Since you also mentioned Texas, you need to have 2 years of working experience as an RN at any time after your graduation, without it, if you passed the NCLEX you will not be licensed until you've taken the refresher course, that's what I read because before I was choosing between Washington and Texas. Have you read the numerous threads on here regarding CA not accepting nurses from the Philipinnes? Usually the education doesn't meet the state requirements.

I think it's gonna be an issue since the school in he Philippines is probably not certified by the United States standards which means they won't let you sit for the nclex in the us. Now if you take the equivalent in the Philippines then there's the issue with concurrency and they might not accept that in the US still.

Many Philippine nurses sit NCLEX and pass it is mainly CA that has concurrency issues
