Hello there everyone! Im a licensed nurse of the state of NM but a resident here in California. I am a BSN graduate in the Philippines so the easiest way for me to get an eligibility is to go apt to nm which i did and was licensed.

Now, i wanna ask if anybody knows or anybody here experienced endorsing RN license from another state to California which is an international graduate like me. I am hearing some Philippines graduate are being denied for the endorsement application despite passing all the requirements. Anybody of you guys who could tell me their experiences if theres a chance for me for my endorsement application. They need a lot of requirements from my school my cases and clinical logbooks. is it true that philippines graduates requires to go to school and take deficient units despite being a licensed nurse from another state?? Im getting worried because its hard to relocate to other states. I love to work here in cali. Thank you and hoping for some replies from you guys! Needs help so bad. Thanks and god bless us nurses!!! :)

CA reviews transcripts and application the same way regardless on initial application or endorsing license. If you feel you do not meet requirements for initial then the same will be there for endorsing.

Thank u. I called ca board of nsg yesterday, they told me there's no way for me to know whether i am elligible to take the rn exam unless i apply for it.cz that's the only way they will be able to evaluate my documents. I have a question about the transcript, they said i need to contact my school and request for it, then my school will mail it directly to ca board of nsg. I was thinking if my parents can request it on my behalf, go to my school and get the necessary documents then mail it to save time.cz i dont have any idea how long will it take for my school to do all that. Thank you for answering

Yes you can authorize your parents to request the school documents on your behalf, and ask the school to mail it directly to the BON or have your parents follow the school's protocol with the mailing of the documents. Usually the schools take 3 weeks to process the documents...

In 2011 some of my batchmates from the Philippines who applied were granted an ATT as they don't have any cases after graduation. Some were denied and they showed me their letter that they were denied as they have cases after graduation. A bunch of us applied in 2012 and we were all denied even though we don't have any cases after graduation but because our cases were not 'concurrent' with the semester we took the subjects. There is a big inconsistency on the part of the CA BON. I got licensed and started working as a nurse here in Las Vegas, NV and when I called about reciprocity to CA BON I was told the same requirements of me having to take up classes before I get my license endorsed to California is still in place.

Oh well goodbye California maybe I'll be back when I finish my FNP.

Double check that, as the basis of the BSN (from the PH) is flawed, CA BRN goes by the BSN degree as the foundation. There's been a couple of posters who tried but will be required to still re-take the deficiencies. You would have to still submit the same transcripts from the PH for the CA BRN evaluators to determine whether it's just the two courses in question or it can be up to 4 of them.

Yeah I am not making stuff up. They told me that if I want to endorse my license I would still need to take MS and OB at a certified school. I already got evaluated by the BON of CA and they denied me when I applied in 2012.

I was approved. My licensing analyst from CA BON asked me the following documents

1. Copy of my social security card

2. A copy of my philippine nursing license

3. A copy of my Nursing diploma with english translation

4. Nursing transcript sent directly from my nursing school to BON

5. Clinical portion of transcript ir RLE sent directly from my school to BON

6. Educational breakdown form sent directly from my school to BON

I asked my school the expected delivery of my school documents. They told me sacramento received all my school documents last july12, 2013. And fortunately after 4 days my name was already posted in CA BON permanent RN license holders.

Hi Im encountering the same problem! i have a rn license from New Mexico. I graduated from the Philippines too. Can you email me? I have some questions. Thanks!

Hey I have the exact same problem! Did you figure out what to do? Cos Im still lost. Graduated in the Philippines year2010. Applied in CA and they told me i need to study again (Med surg 1&2 and OB) then I decided to apply to New Mexico. Now that I have my license I would definitely would love to work here in California. But the endorsing issues are still the same.

As long as you are an IEN the state of CA is going to want to evaluate your transcripts to assess for concurrency of theory and clinical courses. There is no way to license in one state and "endorse" to another state without CA asking for transcripts.

CABRN applies the same regulations to IEN's whether you apply as an initial license by examination or endorsement. Getting a license in NM or any other state does not negate the fact that CABRN requires that you retake med-surg 1&2 and OB before they will consider you for licensing as an RN

I believe that poster, janejanepons, was the PH graduate but she obtained her BSN in the "non-affected" years (2004-2005) and therefore, the CA BRN we have read here did allow those in those particular years and prior to were able to get their license either endorsed OR able to get clearance to take the NCLEX-RN in CA.

This seems to the main exception to those applying in or into CA if you graduated before 2005 although, there was a couple that were still denied for being a 2005 graduate, so the 2004 year and prior to seems to be the best bet to get approved.
