New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

..

Hi miss Eve! I am taking the same course this April at UniSa. Are you too?:nurse:

Yes:) so glad you are taking the course too. Where are you from? Did you apply through idp manila as well?

Does ARNTP in UniSa require paid experience?

Not really. They consider volunteer experience. You just have to present a proof that your duties are the same as that of a staff nurse.

Hello glitz and 14162s001,

I don't know what's the right thing to do for your application but let me share what I did. I made a comprehensive list under the intership/observership in my CV. I listed the names of the hospitals, dates, the clinical area of exposure/ rotation and even my responsibilities. The only document I sent them to support it is my summary of RLE which includes only the name of the hospitals(with bed capacity)and name of towns and schools where we did our community service. That's all that is written there about my hospital and community exposures. I got my elig. letter last December and my registration officer didnt ask for additional proofs. Just sharing.

hi glitz and 14162,

did the same thing as mikyong, made a comprehensive list in my CV (area, hospital, inclusive dates) and passed my RLE summary rotation to support it. same thing, they didnt ask for more info. got my pe-registration letter jan 3. good luck :)

Liaa and Mikyong! :)

Thank you soooo much for answering our question. Now it's crystal clear already.

Now Im giving myslef til next week to submit my requirements to APHRA. Super Thank you!

Love you three (including unadunad who PM'ed me) :heartbeat hehe. :)

is it ok to have 1 year volunteer experience only?:nurse:

Specializes in Operating Room.
@nesciree, if you don't mind, how did you apply for the ARNTP at UniSa and how long have you waited???:confused:

because i'm also considering ARNTP ... thanks

@glitzdelight, im from the North :):nurse::)

hello! IDP Manila helped me in processing my papers. I waited for my CoE less that a month, now I am waiting for my visa.. I am expecting it 2nd week of Feb max. As long as your documents are complete and you follow all the steps, your processing will be smooth.:redpinkhe:nurse::clown:

yup! IDP helped me. Im from Pandacan Manila, how about you? do you have your visa already??:redbeathe

@ Mikyong, thanks a lot for the great help and just want to ask if you don't mind, if how long have you waited for your eligibility letter to arrive and which state in OZ, when did you start sending your application to AHPRA, and were you able to secure a slot for BP intake for this year and which school??? sorry for the unnecessary questions but I'm just so clueless, and I'm seriously considering OZ :):nurse::)

Thanks a lot in advance for all your replies and Godbless :):nurse::)

No problem. :)

From the time I have sent the new application to AHPRA, which was on August of last year, it took me 4 months of waiting til I received the letter.

I am yet to decide between ETEA and VCHN still, because I was quite preoccupied by some commitments lately and I havent had enough time to think things over. I am also waiting for a relative's go signal. . . So basically, no school chosen yet. lol God bless you too and Good luck. :)

hi! anybody going to VCHN melbourne campus this february?

Thanks nesciree for the info, wow! so overwhelming and quite confusing (hehehe lol:lol2:), i'm starting to think all over again whether to push through my application to AHPRA first and wait for so long, or to just take the ARNTP directly :confused::uhoh3::uhoh3:...ARNTP is longer right, which is 6 months if I'm not mistaken, while the BP is just 3 months, but if I look into things, the time spent in taking the ARNTP is just like the time spent waiting for AHPRA's eligibility letter more or less (this is just my opinion),yet longer period of taking the ARNTP means longer stay in OZ which leads to more expenses and ARNTP is more costly than the BP :confused::uhoh3:

I just have queries in mind, say for example, after the ARNTP Lord willing I passed, will I be directly endorsed to AHPRA for registration by the course provider? and can I start working already while I'm still in the process of registration??? and under what visa category did you apply to???

I beg your pardon for all these stuff I'm asking, just clueless. Kindly enlighten me.

Big thanks to you and all the best! :):):):nurse::nurse::nurse::redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe

@ glitzdelight, we're on the same boat, also planning to submit my application to AHPRA nextweek :lol2::lol2::lol2:

If I may ask, which state is your preference???:clown::clown::):):nurse::nurse:

will I be directly endorsed to AHPRA for registration by the course provider? and can I start working already while I'm still in the process of registration??? and under what visa category did you apply to???

No, the course providers never actually register one of their students as a nurse...it is up to you to submit your papers and pay the money.....as for working when still not registered with the board even though you may have done the course absolutely no, as you are still not a Registered Nurse in Australia.

You cannot work as a nurse until you are sponsored unless you come from countries that have recipricol agreements so that you can have working holiday visa....otherwise you need to find a full-time sponsorship position that an employer says they cannot find Australian resident nurse to fill to immigration so that you can apply for a business visa for up to 4 years, once you are here for 2 of those years you can apply for PR.

Some student visa allow work (not as a nurse of course), but once not a student you legally cannot.
