I am a nurse here in the Philippines and it is my first time to apply for a licensure at New York State. I'm processing my CGFNS Credential Verification for New York State (CVS) online, but I haven't completed it yet. I just wanna make sure if I'm doing the right thing. Is there anyone here who can help me or give me information on the step by step process of applying for a license in NY state, from CGFNS up to application at the NY State Education Department (NYSED). I am doing the process on my own and just basing it from what I read from the site and the other blogs here, but I'm still confused. Can someone help me on this? One who had undergone the same process before. Thanks!

Thanks froliveria. I tried to contact NYSED but they have not started reviewing my documents.

hi everyone, I need your enlightenment.. I am new to this site and I find it very helpful.

I have a question about the NYSED exams.. is it both the child abuse and infection control should be taken or either of the 2?

Thank you...

Yes, it is an requirement to take mandated child abuse reporting and infection control short online courses

Thank you nursepao.

should I take the courses both and pass the cert along with my NYSED application or I can take the courses after I pass the nclex?.. I am still in the step of waiting for my credentials evaluated by cgfns and they havent mailed it to my country yet. I did not pass my application to NYSED for now coz I have read it from previous comments here that NYSED won't check my application untill cgfns forward my credentials.. I just want to hear from those who have gone this stage if I am doing the right thing. Thank you very much. I appreciate all the ideas and help here.

I submitted the certificates together with my Nurse 1 form, after CGFNS sent CVS report to NYSED. Application for NY RN license is a waiting game but you have a plenty time to prepare for exam. good luck!

thank nursepao..

Are you working now in NYC?is it easy to get a job after passing nclex?just thinking fast forward..lol

guys, just for verification...infection control and child abuse are courses/training just to be completed and is not an exam to pass about infection control and child abuse? because I first thought of these are exams I need to pass like NCLEX..so these are just courses to be completed, Am I right?kinda lost here...

hi guys, I have a question. hoping anyone can answer me (help).

Is cgfns exam needed before taking nclex exam for new york state? I've heard from my friend cgfns exam is needed if you're not immigrant in the states, but she is not certain about that information. I wanted to hear more or if there is anyone here have experienced the same situation as mine. I am here in the states as a tourist only and at the same time working on my credentialing evaluation at cgfns as of now.

hope to hear from you guys. Thank you.
