CA BRN sending me to go back school.

Okay.. I am a foreign graduate and had my BSN in our country last 2009. I came here in US last september 2011 (here in CA to be exact). And then January 2012 I start to apply for NCLEX RN and after 6 months of processing all the papers I got denied of course due to concurrency issues (OR,DR cases).

The letter from BRN saying that

.."if you wish to become licensed registered nurse in California, you will have to complete an approved RN program. A suggestion would be to find a program in your area and speak to the Nursing Director. It will be the decision of the Nursing director to determine if you can be given any credits of your previous education and what additional course work you would be required to complete."

So my question is, I do understand that I'm going back to school. My other classmates were told to enroll their OB and OR cases I mean their MedSurg and Maternal Child Nursing subject "ONLY" to seat for nclex RN. But me I have to go back to school and enrol in a RN program itself.

Now I'm a LVN and planning to go back to school but not really now. For now I'm just inquiring and searching here what to do. And I have no idea what will happen to me. Is it possible for me to enrol RN program now that I'm LVN and I have BSN in our country before?

Which school here in CA whether So cal or north cal or central california will offer me a best and justify program for my issues to BRN.

Honestly I dont want to take all the subjects in RN program. Is there a school that can accept my other subjects from what I have in BSN and now I am LVN?

As long as you're willing to work in some state other than California, you do not need to return to school. There are many other state boards of nursing that will accept your nursing education from the Philippines and grant you an RN license without ever having to return to school.

In addition, many other states have better nursing job markets than California.

I know thats my really plan.. I really dont want to go back school. Why? First MONEy 2nd time and 3rd the effort of being student again.im just like okay i think being RN here in Cali is I really need to go back school.

Im planning to apply in other state but I dont have relatives there. Im planning TX,FL,NY,NJ what else I dont know where. Haha and My family dont want me to moved in other state,

Actually my plan is to apply nclex RN in other state then once I become RN in other state. Thats the time Im going to school here in Cali and finish rn program. Maybe license endorsement will be okay?? What do you think?

I think you are reading too much into the CA BRN statement. Like your batchmates, you only need to complete those courses that were not considered concurrent. To comply with the CA BON requirements, you have meet all the requirements with the exception of your OR, DR cases.

I would e-mail your evaluator your concerns and makes sure.

In the meantime, you can do what this poster did and a few others stated in the same thread that was able to meet the concurrency requirements and recently got their ATT to take the NCLEX-RN (not the LVN exam) in CA and are or have already taken the RN exam, here's the success story, CLICK and read on: https://allnurses.com/world-nursing/received-att-california-832461.html

Yeah i know i compare my letter to my friend and we got different situation like I said my other classmates were told to complete their requirements by getting OB and MS at approved school by BRN while in my situation BRN didnt tell me to get MS and OB only instead they said "whole rn program"

Yeah maybe tomorrow I'm gonna email my evaluator coz If only Ms and OB that I need? That would be fine rather having whole RN program itself.

I have the same case too.. And I asked my analyst if getting MSN degree would makes me eligible for RN license here in CA.. She told me that it has to be an entry level program.. But Im not sure if I'll be able to find a school since entry level programs are designed for non-nursing degree holders..

I work with nurses who got the same letter. I'm almost certain there is a school that will work with you to take the courses to meed the BRN requirements.

Shocks!!! So what's your plan now??? Take RN and move to other state or take a class here in Cali like the RN program? I'm planning to inquire some schools offer lvn-rn program or lvn to BSN I dont know. i have BSN but how come I cant use it :(
