Nurses Relations
Published Feb 14, 2012
Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.

Oh yeah. Sigh. Saw that one too. These things seem to go in ever-shortening cycles. Eventually the site will reach critical mass and crash into a burning pile of nursing notes, scrubs, and flesh.

Followed that thread without responding, as I did not trust myself to not toss out a few flames. But don't worry, s/he actually did write that letter of complaint, including the ever-popular "I'm a good nurse" thrown in with a handful of "I have a 4.0, please reconsider" etc, and s/he got a response with a new testing number/date. Complete with "halleleuya". So....you think that's a win? S/he does.
And yet another thread that I'm keeping my fingers away from. I swear, I just don't have the patience today.....apparently it's a new thing that the NM interviewing the new grad says "I don't tolerate nurses eating their young" and "I have fired several bullies". I say new, because I can't imagine a NM EVER firing a competent nurse because she didn't like how that nurse talked to another nurse? Sounds like total, flame-broiled BS to me. Want to hire a couple of warm bodies? Tell them EXACTLY what that newbie was told. It's gold.
I once worked for a NM that told me similar stories, all about how we have to create a warmer, more loving environment in which to "nurture" our newest employees. Too bad she was right there with the flame thrower PRN!

I don't understand. Wouldn't she have been permitted to re-take the test anyway?
Yup. Unless they're waving the 45-day wait?

I am so tired of being asked for the same ADVISE over and over.

Tell me about it! It makes feel like I am going to LOOSE it!
I made my own thread for the NCLEX forum. Kinda hoping it heads off some of those repeated questions!

No don't flame me, these are honest questions. Remember I'm Canadian. I drink Molson's, an very polite, think the beaver is the bestest animal ever, live in an igloo and use a dog team to get to work, oh, and I say "eh" a lot. I don't understand why Americans think I'm a socialist because I have universal healthcare that won't bankrupt my family if I get sick.
How easy is it to get into American colleges and universities? The misuse of written English/American is incredible on this board. The posters claim to all have 4.0 gpa's, have no world knowledge (what does it take to be a nurse in ^insert European country^ but I don't speak, read or write the language), feel superior/persecuted.
So the thought of ever requiring hospital care in the US from some of the posters on this board is positively frightening.

Fiona, you're entering dangerous territory. Why on Earth should being able to speak one's native language with only a passing nod to correct grammar and/or spelling prevent one from chasing their dream? I'm sure all those you are referring to are excellent nurses, you're just being mean because you're a jealous harpy.
(For those who are interested, a side note...Triple Sec and watermelon-strawberry Kool-Aide mix well together. Bottoms up!)
