PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

I paid the $200 and my status was result not available.

Did u find out if you passed??

I took the NCLEX-RN Exam 2 days ago and finished the entire 265 questions with just a few minutes to spare. I almost did that pvt thingy. Good thing I've decided to just wait. Checked the quick result exactly 48hrs after my test and I'm happy to tell everyone that I passed!

I am in the same boat you were in and was wondering if you passed.

I took my NCLEX RN yesterday for the second time and the computer shut off at 77 questions, the same number as last time (when I failed :(). This time around I really threw myself into studying, completed all of the Kaplan modules and tests, and met with a tutor for a couple of months. I felt way more prepared going into it, and felt really good for most of the test, getting a bunch of advanced questions (SATL and drag/drop) until around question 55 when I got a bunch of plain old multiple choice that I wasn't totally confident about. I left not sure how it had ended up, and surprised that it had once again shut off so early. I was expecting to go all the way to 265, since I thought I was closer to in the middle than either way above or below the passing line this time.

I tried the PVT a couple of times when I got home and was devastated to get to the CC screen, and wasn't stopped by any pop-ups, good or bad. After reading this thread I feel a little more reassured that maybe the trick just doesn't work anymore, so I'm trying to just keep calm until the quick results come in tomorrow. This waiting is almost worse than waiting to take the test itself!!!!

First off, the number of SATA questions, or even their presence, means nothing. They are not higher level questions, nor lower level questions. They are a format type for questions to be presented, just like multiple choice, drag/drop, etc. A question in any format can be above passing standard, or below it. One person may consider a question easy and believe it to be a lower-level question, another might find it hard and believe it to be above-passing. No way to know from where you're sitting.

As for the PVT: everyone is directed to the credit card screen, regardless of test results. You would have to actually submit your financial info in order to see if you can register again; STRONG CAUTION there as people have thrown $200 out the window (actually, donated it to PV!) because they registered for a test they don't need (passed).

Your exam is scored twice within a 24 hour period; until BOTH sets of scores are completed, you can know NOTHING. If you feel the urge to do the PVT, you'd need to wait until the scoring period is over to see if you can register again.

If you have the option of Quick Results in 48 hours, pay the eight bucks and be sure!

I took the NCLEX 09/19 at 8am for the second time. I didn't try the trick my first time as that was the transition time around 08/29 they changed it up. This time I couldn't help myself! I did it about 8 hours later and then again about 30 hours post test and both times "results not available" BUT it lets me enter my CC info and after submit it goes to the red letter writing that I can't schedule blah blah blah...Hoping this means I passed!! I feel like I did!

For the record, I passed! The PVT worked for me when I put my credit card info through it stopped me with the "good pop-up". I can't believe that I went from failing in 77 questions to passing in 77 questions in just a couple of months of dedicated studying. Yay!:D

PVT worked for me. I waited 24 hours after taking my test before I tried. Got the good pop up.

Wat is the deal why u guys so worried, nclex is very easy compared to the in class exams we had during our 4 semesters. Nclex is very superficial most of it is common sense.

"Wat is the deal"..."nclex is very easy"....?

I'm sure this will be so VERY comforting to those who are struggling with the preparation for this exam, and those who have previously failed and are waiting to re-test.
