PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

Published

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

So since I live in a state that does the "unofficial results", will my 48 hours be up tomorrow (as in Sunday)? Do they include weekends in that 48 hours? Also, is it 48 hours after the actual "time" you took the test and/or completed the test? Or just some time during that day?

Yes, Quick Results are available on weekends and holidays. The time it comes up is anyones guess.

My class last year all seemed to get their results at 9:01am on the nose no matter what time they started or completed their tests. I have a few friends (who just recently tested) who's results were up hours prior to their begin/end time and others who've had it come up hours after the time they started and stopped their test.

Thanks for the information and I'm hoping it shows up some time today. It's now 10:01am and the quick results are not up yet. I started my test at 3pm and ended at 5:45pm. So, hopefully by that time I will see something come up. This is going to be a nerve-racking day for me.

I tested at 8 am on 9/13....done around 11:00(eastern time). Still no results for quick results.

Now I'm really freaking out. Three of my classmates took their exam on a Friday and they didn't get their QR until Tuesday and it wasn't posted on the BON until the following day. It sounds like maybe they don't count the weekends around here? I will go insane!!!

Your 48 hours isn't until tomorrow 9/15. It is never available before two days

Ok...well I just kept checking and praying! I am hoping even though they took my $ that maybe I still passed!!

My results were available at 4pm today. I PASSED!!!

Awesome! I knew you had done so. The pvt is by no means official but its correlation is way beyond statistically insignificant. Shoot even quick results are not official, nothing wrong with trying the PVT and with a gift card its not even a risky proposition. Congrats! Isn't it an awesome feeling?

Congrats mitsugirly!! What did you use to study?

I have to work today and will have no access to internet (no smart phone either). I won't be able to check until around 4. Please keep me in your prayers!

Thanks for the congrats. It's been such a long hard road and probably the hardest thing I have ever done in my life...especially at my age (48).

i have been checking the BON all morning waiting to see the "active" status come up and nothing yet. Has there ever been a time that anyone got a pass QR and really didn't pass? Just wondering.

What I used for studying was... I did the mark klimak review back a few months ago, so I have been using that book and I purchased the nclex RN app on my phone. It has thousands if questions and I think that's what really did it for me.

I have to add...I have severe test anxiety... To the point that I black out before, during or after any test. Then I also get a bad case of diarrhea (tmi I know, but hey we're all nurses right?) This test, I only had 3 cases of "potty issues" and no black outs. I managed to hold it together during the test. Lol

Well I found out I failed for the second time. I don't even know where to start at. I have so many sources ( hurst, lacharity, NCSBN, nclex mastery, Kaplan ) that I have used! I am tired of studying..been in school for 4 years and am 46. I have anxiety as well and always second guess myself. Heck, even the last question I marked right to wrong!

i won't give up...just don't know what else to study!
