The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.
There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.
Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.
The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE
As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.
While I agree that it is unreasonable to waste 200 dollars to try the PVT. Most people are intelligent enough to put in a fake credit card number. The PVT is not 100% accurate though I agree. I have been next to people that have done it and it says they passed, but they really failed. I have also seen someone do it where they thought they failed, but they passed. With some people thought it matches up. Who cares if some people want to try this trick. It is simply a way to pass the excruciatingly painful time to wait two days to get unofficial results.
I created an account to say that the trick was wrong for me!!! I had 78 questions, went straight to the credit card screen, and today I found out that I passed! Don't believe the hype!
You posted this on a thread that discusses the ways in which the PVT has changed since Pearson Vue upgraded its software registration program nearly a year ago....but didn't see that EVERYONE who attempts it WILL be directed to the credit card page? That you must submit credit card info BEFORE knowing anything either way?
Odd.
I hope someone learns from my post... it's a costly cautionary tale:
I tested in September, and after doing my research, used a prepaid debit card with only a few dollars on it and got the good popup. I paid for the quickresults, and confirmed I passed. 2 days later, my name was registered on my state's board of nursing. i coached 4 other friends to do the same, and it worked for all of us (we all passed in 75).
I was tutoring classmates, and 5 of us had passed. my sixth friend worked hard, was doing very well, and other than test anxiety, she was ready. she tested, and it shut off at 110. she knew about the trick, which, by then, I was a big fan of. I knew Id read the tales, but in my arrogance about my ability to prep students and how educated I was regarding the PVT, i told her to let me know if she wanted to do it and i'd talk her through it. she tried it w a department store credit card, which of course, didn't work. she sent me her info and I was going to do it for her. i only had slightly more than the 200 in my account (haven't started my first job yet- next month), and i wasn't about to risk it, so i transferred 200 to my savings account. she failed, it took my money for her test, my bank used my funds from savings due to my overdraft protection & PV won't refund it & my bank will not let me file a claim because it wasn't a fraudulent charge. so many of these stories are so far removed from the narrator, it was difficult to weed out the truth from rumor. but this happened to me. YESTERDAY. just be aware that it's a risk you take.

So since you paid for her new registration your friend owes you $200 plus overdraft fees.

wrote my exam on Saturday Feb 28/15, I tried the PVTwith a cc of non sufficient fund and it was declined, though I wrote for MA BON ,but as an international candidate in a Canadian person vue center, I was shut off after 75 questions. Its 10hours since I wrote and I am still getting the bad pop up to check with my credit card institution after entering all correct cc details though there was no sufficient fund. Please do you have the idea of what is going on or may be I failed?
