  1. Yes after all the mountains he's climbed and multiple attempts, HE PASSED!! It was official yesterday at 0930 :) NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!
  2. This is for anyone who is a repeat test taker for n-clex RN. My husband took the NCLEX 6 times and on the 7th try passed it this Tuesday, here in Texas. Many people would say give up, it's not for you. But that's simply NOT true. First of all, he's already a nurse, an LVN. He made it through one NCLEX, so it stands to reason that he could make it through another. But he definitely suffered with test anxiety. So much so that during one of the tests, the room went dark and he almost passed out! He went through all the stages of grief it seemed like over not being able to pass. Why could he do so well on the tests at home but not at the center? Then he went through anger, depression, bargaining.....but never acceptance. He could never accept that this wasn't meant to be because most of the tests except one time, he got all 265 questions. That meant near passing... He went through expensive prep classes (Hurst review and Kaplan) but to no avail. We found out the name of an expert and we believe she helped...her name is Justine Buick MSN, and she specializes in repeat test takers. He Skype with her for several sessions to understand HOW to break down the questions. Then he did UWORLD. After that he was ready. It had been 3 years since he graduated! He only had one year left to pass.... on tuesday morning he went to the Tyler testing center and took his test. He got 95 questions. His last question he got RIGHT. When he called me, we checked the pearsonvuetrick which all six times before had been right....it had always made us pay. It didn't let us pay!! I couldn't believe it!! He was driving back and I was texting him letting him know. He was still hesitant to believe until this morning at 0930 when we saw it post to the BON. So you may see posts sometimes where people say they don't think someone should be allowed to test that many times. WHY NOT? it's just questions. Those questions do not accurately make you a GOOD nurse. I have been a nurse a long while already and have seen many nurses that have passed their boards on the first try that weren't good at all! So one examination does not define you as a nurse. Be willing to keep learning something new EVERY day.... for none of us can know everything. Thank you lord that he didn't give up!
  3. Texas you can test unlimited times within 4 years from graduation date. That would be fairly close to your home state I think. Closer than New York at least! Don't give up whatever you do! My husband just passed it after 6 tries. Severe test anxiety (literally almost passed out during one attempt). He was 3 years from graduation date. Many people were naysayers and negative nancies. He's already an LVN thank goodness but the bad attitudes toward repeat testers is pretty sad. You CAN do this!!
  4. Ok that makes sense! So technically you could still pass even if you answered wrong on the last question! I just remembered from one of his review classes (Kaplan maybe) they said if you got all 265 if was important to get the last question right. Not sure if that's accurate or not. At any rate, we checked again today and according to the trick, he still passed, we still can't pay! So we shall see í ¾í´—
  5. Just wondering what are the odds if you know for sure you got the last question right when the computer shut off of passing? We are fairly certain my husband passed, but just don't know for certain if the PVT is still alive anymore. He got the good pop up. (Multiple test taker, so we are on edge!!) first time ever it didn't actually let us pay.... last questionge knew for sure he got right because we looked it up....FYI: if a pt has a radiation implant and it falls out what do you do? Answer was place it in a lead lined container....that's when the computer shut off at 95 questions. He's been trying since 2014....literally only had one year left to pass! Gosh I hope this is truly it. Please tell me the PVT is still alive!!
  6. Does anyone else have any input? We are so scared to believe? If he got the good pop up (which he did) did he likely pass? I wasn't sure if it's truly still accurate anymore....
  7. Please help! My husband is a repeat nclex-RN test taker. He took it again today and for the first time ever, it didn't let us pay! It says: OUR RECORDS INDICATE YOU HAVE RECENTLY SCHEDULED THIS EXAM. ANOTHER REGISTRATION CANNOT BE MADE AT THIS TIME. With a red triangle. He has taken the n-clex multiple times, getting all 265 questions every time. The last time he almost passed out during the test, the room got dark and the room was spinning! He has such anxiety over this test!! He did so well in nursing school and is an LVN already but just had a horrible time with this. It's been such a mountain to climb. He went through several exam preps, and every book you can think of. Got very discouraged and just didn't even try again for 8 months. Then met with a private tutor who specializes in repeat test takers. Then he did u-world. This is the FIRST and ONLY time it's ever not let us pay!! Is there hope that he passed?!? signed, beth
  8. You are so right! I have heard so many people say ugly things about failing like "if you take it more than 3 times you dont need to be an RN", ect.....people just truly dont realize how hard this journey has really been. I want so badly to see him pass and conquer this beast! Thanks to you all for the encouragement.
  9. He has not tried Uworld but I will certainly mention it to him!! Thanks
  10. Being that he only has test anxiety and not anxiety in general, the Dr felt a low dose might help him relax and not stress. He said it just made him sleepy. I will mention therapy to him. Certainly cant hurt!!
  11. He tried xanax one time that our hospitalist prescribed him to help.
  12. Based on what I have seen when helping him study, its the select all that apply. Hes been using the true false strategy but doesnt seem to get them all.
  13. Is there a reason for the drop in percentage of passers? Is it just forgetting things or does the test get harder each attempt?
  14. So. My husband and I are both LVNs here in texas. My husband did the transition program and passed gaining an associates degree in may 2014. He has yet to pass his NCLEX despite repeated attempts. I dont even know how many times its been but I think like 6 or so. Please dont judge! He has SEVERE test anxiety and for whatever reason this is just conquering him. We have tried numerous testing strategies and books and classes. Every time he gets all 265 questions and his score report reads ABOVE PASSING AND NEAR PASSING in every area. I feel its the select all that apply. Here in Texas you have unlimited attempts at nclex for 3 years after graduation. We have spent so much money trying anything to help him pass. I am just so over it. Its so frustrating and humiliating for him. I haye seeing him so dissapointed after studying so hard. I know a lot of people say "its just not meant to be". Maybe thats true. But why pass nursing school for RN then? And hes a nurse on a busy med surg tele floor so its not like hes never had experience. I myself went thru excelsior so he could go to the traditional program. I am scheduled to take my CPNE in December but I just feel so terrible about him not passing that I cant even study. If it were you, what would you do? Would you keep trying to pass the NCLEX until the 3 yr mark hits or just move on? I am truly asking opinions. Its just so disheartening.
  15. Can you do the trick with a credit card with no money on it but is still valid? Or do you have to have money on it? Thanks!
