**Positive Thinking for the NCLEX!**

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Ok guys, I know there's a bunch of us that are studying our little butts off for the NCLEX. We're doing tons of practice questions each day, we're reading everything we can, and we're stressing about it! Everyone says we need to keep a positive attitude and in all the NCLEX books I've read it says the same thing .... positive thoughts are important.

Is there anything you're doing each day while studying to keep a positive attitude about this? I know in Saunders it mentions writing a notecard with your name and RN after your name, and then under that with the word "YES", and putting that somewhere so you can see it throughout the day while you're studying. I haven't done that yet, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. I want to get all the bad thoughts out of my head.

We can do this! We WILL pass the NCLEX!

Please share any tips or positve thoughts, we can use all we can get! :)

Here are a few good tips I got from a website:

*Always use only positive words in your inner dialogues. Use words such as, I can, I am able, it is possible, it can be done, etc.

*Accompany your inner dialogues with feelings of happiness, strength and success.

*Do not heed negative thoughts. Calmly refuse to think these thoughts, and substitute them with constructive happy thoughts.

*In your conversations with other people use words that evoke scenes of strength, happiness and success in their minds.

*Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome. If you visualize with concentration and faith, you will be amazed at the results.

*Read at least one page of inspiring literature every day.

*Watch movies that make you happy.

*Listen to the news and read the papers, but do that sparingly and with detachment.

*Associate yourself with people who think positively.

*Always sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner strength.

*Walk, swim or engage in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive attitude.

Think positive and expect only favorable results and situations, even if currently your life is not as you wish it to be, and in time your mental attitude and your your life circumstances will change accordingly.

Thank you, RainDreamer! I'm not quite ready to start NCLEX study, yet. I have one more semester to go, but I'm already stressing it! Like everyone else, I'm hoping to take it only once. I like to come to this forum once in awhile because it's so supportive. Everyone here is great :icon_hug: thank you all!

I posted this way back in the day when I was studying for the NCLEX. I really do believe that keeping a positive attitude and thinking positively helped me to get through it .... because we all know how incredibly nerve racking it can be!

I wish you all the very best. Add some good positive words here and things that help you. YOU WILL BE FINE!! :)

it does help to think positive!! i did all these things when i was studying.

i wrote my name,rn and also "i will pass my nclex-rn exam" numerous times.

one person who is such a sweetheart told me... "you are so smart, look at those girls who were not so smart, they did it, so you will too"

and i told myself, "he is right, i am smart" and i kept thinking positive. people would tell me that kaplan strategies don't work... but i told myself, they do work... and that is what i used in my exam!

positive thinking is the way to go. study study study and think positive!

I know this is a really OLD thread (I can't believe it's been over 5 yrs since I took the NCLEX, wow!), but I still remember so vividly all the stress that went into studying and preparing.

Keeping a positive attitude helped me SO MUCH! I went in there with the attitude that I was going to pass it the first time, and I did! And you will too! Just study and keep your head up ...... the RN behind your name is coming soon!

Please add any words of encouragement and tips to keep up the positive thinking.

Good luck to each of you!!

Thanks Rain for digging up this thread. I have been hard at studying for the last several weeks and have been feeling pretty confident until today. I've really struggled today with feeling that what I've studied is not sticking and that I might not reach my goal to pass. But I have come to learn that God works in mysterious ways. I was praying for his guideance and strength to continue on until my test date next Friday. And what was my anwser from him, this thread! Thank you God for all the positive comments and inspiration that comes from this site. This is just what I needed. God Bless and good luck to everyone taking the NCLEX soon. We Can Succeed! No, WE WILL SUCCEED!
