5th attempt! passed RN! Finally!

Told myself that when i pass my exam i will post in here and give a little summary on my experience with this long journey. Little background: Graduated May 2014, took Nclex in June, Aug, Oct, Dec, and last is Jan 31.

Today, i am officially a Registered Nurse. I took my exam Saturday, the whole weekend and the whole entire day of Monday and Tuesday (LONGEST WAIT EVER) i didn't get any results back and about 430pm today, saw my name at the BON website. Thank you God!

Just want to let everyone know who is struggling on studying or multiple re-taker like me to : DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! do not give up!!! i repeat DO NOT GIVE UP!! it is all worth it in the end.

Took nclex 5x. and on this 5x,

-i used Kaplan, PDA, NCSBN 3weeks (purchased it twice), Mary Hogan Comprehensive review (read it 2x), HURST, NCLEX android App, NCLEX alternative-type questions book and the study guide in this Forum.

Resources listed above are ones i used throughout. Studying for NCLEX became a part-time job for me along with my real part-time job.

For the first 3 attemtpts i didn't study the way i studied in nursing school, i just answered questions everyday, wrote my rationale and just read off of it. Everyone is different when it comes in studying.

After my 3rd attempt to study for nclex, i came up with a study calendar of my own and studied 3 chapters a day off of the Mary Hogan Comprehensive review and 25-50 questions a day from kaplan, PDA and NCSBN. i finished studying all the chapters 2 weeks prior to my 4th attempt. and on those two weeks, I focused on answering 100-200 questions everyday plus working 2 days a week. Unfortunately, i didn't pass on my 4th attempt because i ran out of time and only finished 260 questions.CPR came and they are all near-passing standard.

After that i took a week off and went back to the same strategy of studying and passed my last attempt with 187 questions. What i did differently in studying for my 5th attempt is, i incorporated the same strategy on how i studied in nursing school into studying for the exam. I got tons of SATA tons of drag/drop. one math and, lots of PDA questions which i all finished in 3hours.

My suggestion in studying for NCLEX is study the same way you studied in nursing school!

Surround yourself with positivity, always remember this, "There's no expiration on dreams"

Fulfill it. Take your time, Take it day-by-day! and done forget to do things you love. Dont let this exam get to you!! it is JUST an exam.

like i said above, is DO NOT GIVE UP! Keep striving and always trust yourself!!

Canada is only 3 attempts then you must return to school for remediation. A few US states allow multiple attempts.

congrats!! what state did you take it for? did you have to take a remedial course after your 3rd?
