Just For Fun...$$$ Personal "best"

Hubby and I are saving for a house so we are working MUCH overtime. I am about to get a check breaking my $$ personal "best" in 15 years of nursing. We started to discuss our largest paychecks ever at the nurses desk and I was surprised at the answers. Ill start by saying it was an LPN only discussion and we are currently in Pa. My personal best is $3200 after taxes with me in a 25% income tax bracket. The highest at the desk was $3900 after taxes in a 2 week pay period. My upcoming best took 7 double shifts in a 2 week pay period with anything over 8 hours in a day being paid at time and a half. (hence my new love of the double shift) It was a fun discussion so I thought Id just post it here. I know some are funny about discussing their earnings but for those who appreciate the anonymity of the internet lets dispell the Low Paid Nurse myth.:D Viva La LPN !! :yeah:

Of course, you've gotta work a ridiculous amount of overtime and extra shifts in order to bring the fat paychecks home. You're earning a lot of money, but you must put in a lot of hours to get the result.

Anyhow, I had two full-time gigs and one part-time job earlier this year. I was netting about $2,600 monthly after taxes from one full-time job, about $2,200 per month after taxes from the other full-time job, and about $800 monthly after taxes from the part-time job. Overall, this added up to $5,600 per month after taxes were deducted. I was able to see my savings account swell by over $13,000. Of course, I had to stop doing this after 3 months because I got exhausted.

Ka Chang, Ka Chang!! I never got that much as a personal best, because I am too tired to work that much. But, believe me, if a need applies, I would do it in a heart beat. One of the things I do like about nursing is that we have options to get quick money (only problem is that we take a risk of what circumstances we may have to work under). Think my personal best was about drawing in $2000 once for two weeks of working 7 days straight and a few late hours.

Well seven double shifts in a 14 day period "technically" still gave me 7 days on and seven days off. Even if i was half dead on those off days Hehe

Personal best, without any overtime, working 72 hours biweekly. $41,000.00 for the year. Won't be that this year though. Too many times called off from work this year.
