hello. good day!

i am a registered nurse here in the philippines.:nurse:

can you tell me about CRNE in Toronto, Ontario?

what are the specific requirements and what should i do to apply?

i visited the site given in the other posts/threads but all i can see are the dates, fees, etc..

what are the requirements and what should i do first? how long is the processing time?

im so sorry, im doing this on my own and i dont know how.:crying2:

thank you so much...:)

so its not yet a good time to move in toronto right?

coz, im planning to migrate there. with my mom of course. my sister is in toronto already.

we are planning to start our application next month.

should we not continue with our plans? or not?

my sister and my close friend who are currently in toronto said that nurses are still in need in toronto.

its really confusing me... :((

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

Only you can make that decision. What the public (those not actually working in health care) understands of what's happening is quite different from reality. Yes, the nurses in Toronto are working short. So are nurses all across the country. That doesn't mean that the health regions or hospitals are hiring. In Alberta at the moment only internal applicants (people already working for Alberta Health Services) are permitted to apply for posted positions. I'd advise you to have a look at some of the hospitals that you're interested in working for and seeing how many positions they have posted. But my honest opinion is that Ontario has a large number of home-grown newly graduated nurses who aren't able to find work so it's going to be much harder for someone from outside the country to find work there. But I can tell that you're not really seeing the big picture and you'll make your choice based on whatever suits you. Good luck to you.

I want to work in Ontario because most of my relatives live there. I just want to be able to take the CRNE that's why I am thinking of getting assessed by a different province first if they let me take the exam before any bridging program. But if its the same case with the other provinces where I have to take any bridging program before the CRNE then I'll just go straight ahead to Ontario.

But does ONtario credit CRNE exams from other provinces? Right now, I am not sure yet if I'll apply for immigration or work permit there in CAnada.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You will still have to meet Ontario requirements even if you have passed CRNE in another province. You really are better just applying to the province that you want to work from the start. As a foreign nurse transferring from one province to another if you haven't any recent nursing experience or Canadian working experience you may still be required to sit some sort of SEC or bridge program

Specializes in intensive care, recovery, anesthetics.

The whole process is quite costly and will take time, apply direct in Ontario if you really want to move there.

Ok I'll just do that. Hopefully I can find an employer in ONtario because I think I can only register if I have an employer. With what janfrn is saying about no nursing jobs, hmm hopefully I can find one. Thank you for all your replies.

does everyone applying to be an RN in Ontario have to pass the CRNE and undergo the bridging program or just pass the CRNE?

Your BScN is a degree. That's the highest level of education you have so that's what you put down.

hello.

my friend finished his Masters already. Masters in Art of Nursing.

is it a degree of diploma?

whats the difference between degree and diploma?

thanks in advance...:)

The CRNE is the Canadian REgistered Nurse Exam. The exact same exam is written in every city in English Canada on the same day. The results are accepted in every province except Quebec. Did you say you read the sticky https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/faq-canadian-registered-370227.html??

A Masters DEGREE is obviously a degree. In Canada the Masters of Arts in Nursing is not considered equivalent to the Masters of Science in Nursing. There are no Masters of Arts in Nursing here. Degrees are conferred by universities and require four years of a prescribe course of study. Diplomas are conferred by colleges; they may require as few as 6 months of study and the core curriculum is set by the college. Nursing diplomas used to be conferred by hospital schools of nursing too, and their curricula were varied in their academic and clinical requirements. Some schools were MUCH tougher than others.

thank you so much..:)
