I've posted before about my husband being terminally ill and complications that have come up, but this is the worst it has every been. Currently in ICU with ARDS and sepsis, placed on dialysis yesterday. On a vent, paralytic, the whole works.

Miraculously he has been showing signs of improvement. CXR went from a complete white out to having distinguishable upper lobes, heart, ET. That was amazing. Has been running a PEEP of 20. Went in this morning to a stunned looking pulmonologist telling me that the lungs are regaining some elasticity so they got the PEEP down to 8. (PTL!)

I have been glued to his bedside but am home tonight as I had nobody to take care of our 5 year old. Besides she is desperate for some mommy time and vice versa. I was actually sleeping peacefully and his brother called and woke me up. Couldn't go back to sleep and felt God telling me to get on here and get as many prayers as possible going so that dh can get over the hump. My brother in law is an atheist but I continue to witness to him about God in my life and God's ability to heal if it is in his will.

Please, all you that can pray, please help me out on this one. His name is Dan and I love him more than anything. He had not made a decision for the Lord before he was intubated so that is a big reason for wanting him to wake up and have one more chance.

Thanks in advance to all. You guys are wonderful support.

    Nursejoey05,

My heart is heavy after reading your post. I can only tell you that God has a plan for your brother and that what you're going through God has a purpose. I will absolutely pray for you and your husband. God had put you in your husband's life for a reason. Remember, NO ONE goes without having the word of God spoken to them. Psalm 42:11 says it all. Just keep your hope in Him and keep the faith. Souls that are for saving will not leave without them having accepted Jesus.
You, your brother, and your husband will be in my prayers. God bless you and keep your head up. Please let us know how it turned out or just email me via PM.

    God bless you,
    Mave.

I'm not as discouraged tonight. Last night all I could think about was that I'd be faced with a decision to pull the plug or not. I begged God to make it so I didn't have to make that decision. But things are looking up today. Spoke with the neuro and pulmo docs today. They say that the hemorrhages are nothing major, no permanent damage, nothing that is not reversible. IJ cath is working like a charm for dialysis. Out of MRSA isolation today. Big issue now is the C diff--Dan went septic again due to that. Trying to fix c diff without him getting pneumonia or another major infection is going to be tricky. But doc says if they can conquer that, he'll be talking to me next week about a trach and transfer for vent weaning. Thanks for the continuing support and prayers. You guys are awesome.

Nursejoey, my prayers are very much in agreement with yours and the others that the Lord will work a miracle in the life of your DH. And the greatest miracle of all is God's gift of salvation. If God can speak to and be heard by Lazarus, your husband can hear Him, no matter what a CT scan reports. God doesn't want anyone to perish! And there is more than one kind of healing. My greatest prayer is for your DH's salvation -then for his physical healing, to the glory of God for it all! "All things work together for good to them that love God and are called together for His purpose." I've been told that you can't have a testamony without a test. I've been through a simulair test 14 yrs ago. God is faithful! Remember to take care of yourself, too. And rest in the love and care of your Lord. He's heard all of the prayers and loves your DH completely. A man I knew wrote a song, "I'm in His hands. I'm in His hands. What'ere the future holds, I'm in His hands. The days I cannot see have all been planned for me. His way is best you see. I'm in His hands." God bless you!
    In Christian love,
    Marilyn

Here's the most recent update. Neuro said that the hemorrhages are nothing to be concerned about, no permanent damage. Planted a new IJ for dialysis and have not had site related problems since. Platelet count is improving. Having problems getting the C-Diff under control. Has megacolon now. Also has pleural effusion now, but doc says not to worry about that yet. Today's positives...God is still on The Throne.

Here's my update....Christmas Eve I had just dropped DD off at the babysitter and went straight to the hosp where they said that they were just trying to get ahold of me. Surgeon came in for a consult of his distended abdomen and said he needed an emergecy colostomy. Ended up taking out 9 feet of completely destroyed colon but had a lot of bleeding issues. Had to give him 9 units of blood, 4 units plasma, and 20 units of platelets just during the surgery. Amazingly, he is still alive and critically stable at this point. They plan to do the trach tomorrow if his platelets can handle it. Still need more prayers.
