I would try make sure I'm full of healthier food before spying the junk. It helps me out quite a bit. When I was actively losing weight, I practiced abstinence from candy.

Go back to eating responsibly Jan 2nd.

My life is sour right now (not so new grad) so I need something SWEET.

Portion control helps. Just have small servings of calorie dense treats, and fill up on fruits and veggies and other low cal stuff.

How 'bout my personal favorite (sarcasm intended) a bad case of gastroenteritis, the kind that lingers and leaves you nauseated for a couple weeks, or a peptic ulcer. No danger of overeating there, and the clear liquid diet lends itself well to weight loss. Of course, there's the torture then of seeing all your friends and family eating the goodies you wish you could have. Apparently, that's my plan for this year.

I look at the calories on the boxes of sweets, which usually causes me to yelp in pain and only allow myself one. As far as homemade treats go I just have one. As well all know in the world of nursing break rooms if you wait about 15 minutes most everything will be gone anyway!

I think this is one of the advantages of working nights. Since we get most of the scraps left over, there generally isn't anything really appealing.

PS. I also bring fruit/veggie trays and hummus for potlucks.

Are those calorie things for real?Because sometimes I'm blown away.Simply blown away. 300calories in one round sweet not bigger that my little pinkie. When I can consume so much more on 300calories. *Sigh*

I had bariatric surgery in Sept. so I, too, get to watch everyone else with the treats. I never was much for sweets, so that helps a little........
