What kind of BAG do I carry all this stuff in?

I am getting ready to start my first semester of Nursing Program and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best way to cart around all this stuff (textbooks, clinical supplies, etc.)? Thanks:clown:

That's the kind of dogma that goes with nursing school that I can't stand. I guess I just expect more out of people that you do.

What?

I use a rolling backpack. I'm a disabled vet from a couple trips to sandy places where I humped around with more weight than school books, I don't care what wheeled backpack haters think. Some of you shouldstop judging people, you're going to be nurses right?

While working on my first degree, I was at a large, very spread out university. Walking all over that campus with a heavy backpack on gave me excruciating headaches that never went away. So, I got a rolling backpack. My headaches went away.

I didn't care what people thought back then and I certainly don't care now.

As an aside, it is amazing how every single post on this forum, no matter how benign, turns into a battle of some sort.

Nurses don't judge? Around here they're more cynical and judgemental than cops, lol.

Kudos for thinking positive though!

I use one of these rolling crate things.

I felt like an idiot wheeling it around at first and I did get some good natured teasing from my classmates. However, by the end of the semester several people told me they were getting one for themselves for the following semester. Everything fits it it very easily and mine has a hard lid which makes a handy place to plop your butt on. Excellent make shift seat. I hate rolling backpacks and the like but my back started giving me trouble (even though I am in excellent shape, thank you p90x). This has been a life saver.

In my previous classes I never used a backpack. I parked close to the school and had enough time to run out to my car between each class (3 classes) and put one book in and get out the other.

For lecture: my laptop, in a daypack laptop backpack, it holds compartments for my power cord, and bar And my laptop stand, with a cooling fan, my comp is retarded and it overheats so It needs a fan, under it, plus the new one i have is way more comfy for my lap.

For skills: I have the customary skills kit with everything they want us to have in terms of supplies. then I have my clipboard, with storage compartment. In compartment i have CPS Sheets, My tech sheet created by me, that i use at work/volunteering hoping they'll get off their butts and give me a job this week!!!! I volunteer at the local hospital as a PCT, 4 12's a week. Because my mom wants me to get a job, well until someone hires me this is the best i can do. I also have a clear small make up bag the holds bandage scissors, spare alcohol wipes, adhesive remover wipes, penlight pens. my stethescope round my neck with tape roll on earpieces.

Clinical: Clipborad with all previous mentioned items. and drug book, and lunch all stuffed in my laptop daypack backpack!

We have several classes a day. I may not need all of the books for class each time, but the day I leave something in my car or at home, I need it. So, I use a rolling case and cart a lot of stuff around. The first day of first quarter there were probably 5 or 6 rolling bags and the first day of this quarter, there were more like 30+. We look like a bunch of flight attendants in the airport as we travel across campus from one class to another. But, my back doesn't hurt and I have what I need.

Thing is - I do use those books during the day. I have a 90 minute break some days and I take that opportunity to be prepared for other classes.

Haha, the other day we all got to class and the doors to the classroom hadn't been unlocked yet. We had all out stuff parked along the wall. Other students coming in were staring at our amazing amount of "luggage"! :yeah:

I think a radio flyer wagon is a good option. :smokin:

somebody PLEASE tell me why you are all taking your books to class everyday? this just seems rediculous to me unless you are having some kind of study group, in which case everyone could just bring one book... or on the off chance that your instructor actually requests that you bring a particular book to class, in which case i dont fathom them asking you to bring in all 10 books at once.

i....hate.....rolling.....BACKPACKS.

I take my books because our classes are 4 hrs long. When the instructor gets tired of talking she hands out case studies for us to do. We never know when she is going to do this, and we need our text to answer the questions. Another instructor lectures straight out of the book, and I found the easiest way to take notes, is to highlight what she says.

It would be wonderful if I didn't have to lug everything around, but unfortunately my program doesn't work that way. Since I have everything with me anyway, I usually go to the library after class and do any homework so that once I get home the books can stay in the backpack.
