Well I have 4 more weeks of school and 2 more times to go to clinical rotation. (We go once a week on Friday's) So far I can still say I LOVE NURSING SCHOOL AND I CAN'T WAIT TO BE A NURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :nurse: My test scores are high (suprisingly) and I have the bomb study group.:) I've made so many new friends and met so many remarkable patients I feel like the queen of the world. I love what I'm doing which is funny realizing how much I hate my current job. (Airline customer service/ticketing agent):angryfire I have the best clinical instructor. She's willing to help you out, is open to stupid questions (and I have a lot of those) and dosen't yell at you if you do something wrong. I completed my first IM injection today and haven't finished calling everyone I know to tell them how great and cool it was. (I know. No big deal to some of you.) So what. It's a big deal to me!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I'm doing really well, gradewise, and in general feel pretty competent in the clinical setting. I can't wait for second semester!

I still love it! It gets harder every week, and doing our cometencies makes me so nervous I want to throw up, but I still love to learn and can't wait until our first clinicals! :)

Well I love the clinicals! But as far as the classes, tests, group presentations, careplans, etc ...... I'm not really lovin' it LOL. I'm just at the point where I'm ready to be DONE! I'm ready to get out there and start working!!

I still love it also. In fact, when I saw my academic advisor this evening, she said to me that she could tell just by looking at my face that I was having a great first semester.

My only hope is that I get some of the fantastic people I have in my clinical group now in my next clinical group. They are just great! I'd love to be with them all the way through if I could. In addition, I've heard some of the catty b*tches talk before lecture starts about how they wouldn't help so-and-so during clincal, and "she is so stupid and doesn't know how to put on an Attends", etc. I just don't want to end up with any of THOSE types.

My group just helps everyone out - you only have to ask once, and before you can even finish your question, you have more help than you need! I love our little group. :)

I get really nervous during skills checks in lab. We had to do our full physical assessments this week for lab, and I wanted to throw up the whole way to school! I'm so glad we don't have lab after this semester. :chuckle I'd have an ulcer of gigantic proportions if we did!

Ehm...Nursing school sucks. Mind you, I enjoy the learning immensely and the patient care during clinicals is wonderful. That all being said - I don't like the stress, the never-ending readings, the whole "just a passing grade is good" thing, and my mean ol' clinical instructor. I also dislike having an exam that covers 350 pages and having no direction or guidance as to what to study for or focus on except for, "You need to know it all."

Is nursing for me? Yep, I think so.

Am I sticking with nursing? Yep yep, I'll be there.

Does it mean I have to enjoy the process? Nuh uh. :)

I'll disagree with the majority and say that Nursing school is for the birds!

i absolutely love, love, love it! :rotfl:

i have the best clinical instructor and students in my group. we are each so different, but completely complement each other. the group is supportive and encouraging. we are already planning our last day of clinical lunch and i will be sad when we are regrouped next semester.

i love the amazing clients i have had to pleasure to take care of over the past six weeks. i am at a ltc facility and i am so intrigued by the fascinating stories they share with me about their life. every day i leave there with a huge smile on my face.

i even love all the paperwork! :rotfl:

I am just finishing up my first quarter of nursing school for my BSN. I have exactly 2 years to go until I graduate. I LOVE it. I love everything about it, I love learning, I love reading, I love the people I have met. I even love our class wackos, they have unified our class and kept me entertained.

Specializes in LDRP.

love it? sort of.

i love learning the new information. i do not love the tests every 2 weeks, the worrying about grades, etc. i have to bust my butt for a B.

i love the clinicals. i do not love the care plans.

i love most of the people in teh class. some i do not care for at all.

i love becoming a nurse, but i've been at it for a while and i wish it would hurry it up and be over! the process is so long and hard and wears you down.

love, rose

I couldn't agree more! The worrying and stress over the tests every week or 2, the careplans, the projects, the presentations, the papers, etc.... 1 1/2 years of it really wears you down. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's so exciting, it just can't come soon enough!! We're almost there, Rose!! :D

I still love it, but between Fundamentals and A&P - it's constant studying and worrying about doing well. I have a question for all of you that say you're getting great grades - what are you considering "great grades"? I have a high "B" in Nursing and wasn't sure how I ranked among my fellow students - but the Dir. of Nursing told me that nobody has an "A" and I should be very happy with how I'm doing. She said she'd be worried if a bunch of us were getting "A's", because she'd know the tests were way too easy.

She explained something to me about the C=RN "thing". She said Nursing Schools have to have a certain percentage of their graduating classes pass the NCLEX to stay accredited - I think the BON has some say in this. Anyways, if I understood her right - she said Nursing Tests/Exams are purposely made to be very difficult and it's figured in somehow - that if you can pass with a "C", they are pretty confident that you can pass the NCLEX. It made sense when she explained it to me, hope I explained it right. I did finally understand why these tests are so hard/tricky and sometimes confusing. It's not because they're being mean and want us to fail - it's because our goal is to one day get our license and they want us to be prepared enough to pass the licensing exam. So, what they are doing is actually for our benefit and the harder they push us, the better we'll do. Susan
