I'm thinking about applying for a school that's a little over a hour away from my home. So I'm thinking my total commute would be about 2 and a half hours a day. Do anyone drive far to get to school and how does it effect you?

I do not live far from my school. I drive about 10 min.

I drive about 65 miles one way. So, I commute about 3 hours round trip. I also carpool with another person, so one week I drive and the other he drives. Perhaps there will be others in your program who you can carpool with.

well my college is like an hour away also. at first the journey was very frustrating but after a few months i got accustomed to it and it seem like just a 30 mintues drive. i dont know if that works the same way for everyone though.

good luck :)

My school is about 21 miles away mostly expressway, but it will take me anywhere from 45 minutes in good weather to an hour in bad weather because of all the traffic! Stop and go bumper to bumper.

I drive 65 miles one way. At first seemed like it would be horrid. but actually as long as you budget for gas its not bad, maybe get books on tape or its a good time to catch up on phone calls, etc. good luck to you... for me it is well worth it!

I spend about 15 hours in the car per week commuting back and fourth to school. I HATE it, but don't really have any better options at this point. Some of the things I have done to make it easier are using my time in the car to study. I listen to lectures, and record myself reading over my notes and listen to them also. Doing this has helped make HUGE improvements in my grades, plus I don't feel so stressed when I finally get home!

I'm about 20-25 mins. away depending on traffic. For my first degree I was 45 mins away and loved driving that far everyday. Of course, I didn't like filling up every other day.

In your situation, it's not unheard of. In my program, people are driving from different states to make it to class. Unfortunately, clinicals aren't in their state of residency.

I live about 30 miles from my campus. However, it's in the middle of a major city so traffic is HORRIBLE. I leave my house at 6:30 to be on time for 8:00 classes. I hate it so much. I have to tell myself every day that it won't last forever and that once I graduate, I can get the heck away from this town.

I've got about an hour drive to classes. Last semester I lucked out and had clinical only 15 minutes away, but this semester it will also be an hour. It's a long drive, but I just keep reminding myself it's temporary!

My school is 50 min away. Last semester my clinicals were only 30 min away and this sem it's 50 min away. Mostly highway driving though. I thought I traveled far but after reading these posts I feel better about my commute length!
