Have any "romantic" relationships developed in your nursing program?

It seems like you are all spending so much time together studying outside and in-class that it's bound to happen. Is it a bad idea though? Does it just get weird?

i havent seen it happen yet, but i think it would be a bad idea.. i mean, in theory it sounds good: they already know what your going through, you can study together, you have someone to talk to about all your nursing stuff that non nursing people dont care about/understand, but what happens if you break up? youre stuck in class and maybe clinical with that person for the rest of school.. granted its probably only 2 years but i feel it would get awkward.

besides, i think all of the guys in my class were married/older anyway. lol

i had it happen my first semester and it got weird really fast. we were both in the same nursing class so it couldn't have worked, i mean we saw each other every day. in my opinion, it isnt a good idea and i advise against it. just get through school, make some good friends in your class, and if after graduation something could happen, then let it happen after you're done with school. :)

As I pointed out in another thread, I dated someone in my program. Bad idea

Dated someone who worked on the floor we were doing our clinicals, worse idea.

Why is dating someone you have clinicals with a worse idea?

There's only 2 guys in our class and I don't think either of them are my type....and I'm pretty sure my husband wouldn't appreciate it. ;0)

We started with 3 guys, one guy was notorious for hooking up (not sure how :|) and had messed around with a clinical instructor. Was rumored to have gotten a girl in class pregnant (which I don't think was true at all) anyway he isn't with us anymore for other reasons. Oh and he showed up to clinical with a big ole hickey on his neck. Totally unprofessional, he was an older guy and super smart book wise.

One guy I think was interested in a couple of the girls but nothing went out of it. I mean I didn't imagine it would have, he was a tad odd in a "scary" kind of way and lived out of his car, (super expensive SUV) by choice. Not really great dating opener ya know.

Last guy is a good friend of mine and I don't think he is interested in anyone in the class. I am sure rumors were sparked that him and I seemed "close" but it's nothing like that between us.

lol

it will be kinda weird...

and most guys in our class are in their late 30's...i'm the youngest i would say, and they seem to be married already.

so yeah.

The closest thing to a romance was that one classmate married another classmate's brother. (Yes, she introduced them.)

My BFF met her husband in nursing school they were both in the same class and married a few yrs later. It wasn't a problem for them and they are still as happy as ever. They have been together over 18years now

I don't think any of my peers seriously dated each other..but a few "booty calls" emerged lol

Specializes in Operating Room.

We have five men in a class of 60! I haven't seen or heard about them getting romantic with any classmates... but that is a terrible idea to begin with. However, there are some guys my age in the class ahead of me and they are very good looking, I wouldn't mind the possibility if I wasn't wonderfully happy in my relationship :p
