Today I ran out at 9 am to run errands. Errands got postponed so I went to school to pick up the scrubs they ordered me, and my first book (DevPsych).

Surprise - didn't we tell you? We no longer cover scrubs in your 40,000 ADN degree tuition! That'll be 50 bucks a pair, please! :)

....

You have got to be kidding me! they are the cheapest, most worthless scrubs I have ever seen and they want 50 dollars a set?!

Give me a break!

There. I had to whine to people who at least have some idea what I'm on about since DH just tells me to grow up, but doesn't offer me scrub money, either. School starts in a week. -.-

Bright side? The pants aren't white.... yay.

Do you have to buy what the school gives you? I am fortunate that my school allows us to buy what ever brand of scrubs and from where ever as long as they are the school colors. I would be mad to! The things we put up with to become a nurse!

Fifty dollars for junky scrubs? That's highest robbery. I pay $50 for my Grey's Anatomy uniforms....

$40,000 for ADN tuition? ouch! I guess I like the idea of my schools all white dress code better than cheapo scrubs that cost $50. At least we got to pick out "cute" white scrubs.

Yep. ZERO substitutions. And they are literally the worst, roughest, cheaply made scrubs ever invented. I know I sound like a snot - at least I get to GO to nursing school and i AM very grateful... but why, with over 40k in bills, can they not cover a few pairs of one dollar slave labor scrubs?

$40,000 for ADN tuition?

That's just exactly what I was going to say!

Specializes in Oncology/hematology.

Any ADN program that costs $40,000 is crazy! Wow. Mine is $10,000 and a lot of people on here have cheaper programs. I am shocked!

We have horrid ugly scrubs that we must purchase as well. We cannot go get the brand we want but must buy them from the bookstore at school. I did just find out that on lab days, I can wear any scrubs I want so I bought 2 sets of adorable Koi scrubs. I LOVE them!

Our uniforms cost $280.00 for two pair I wish I only had to pay $50! We have white pants and a white vest :( Can't wait till I can buy my own!

Whoa! That must come with a skill pack and some shoes too!

Ours cost about $45 for our embroidered Landau/Urbane mixture (top and bottom).

Throw in another twenty something for the jacket.

And however expensive shoes you can stomach.

And a skill pack.

I pitched enough of a fit and will be picking up my first two pairs tomorrow. I was extremely upset. The school costs a fortune because it is a private accelerated school - but not a diploma mill, as it is SACS and NLNAC accredited, but still, don't try to pull a fast one on me like that, it's not very fair :(

We have a vendor we have to buy from because they embroider our school logo on the tops. 2 pants, 2 tops, a polo shirt, a white lab coat, and an optional scrubs jacket. Total is around $150...but we know ahead of time that we have to order and pay for them. We have a large box in the skills lab where graduates can donate their old scrubs so students who can't afford scrubs (or want some extras) can get some.

Specializes in Informatics, Orthopaedics.

Don't feel bad, I was required to buy 3 sets of uniforms for $100 each, and lab coats for another $40 each...none of which fit me. :banghead:
