A moment to wallow in self pity.

Today I ran out at 9 am to run errands. Errands got postponed so I went to school to pick up the scrubs they ordered me, and my first book (DevPsych).

Surprise - didn't we tell you? We no longer cover scrubs in your 40,000 ADN degree tuition! That'll be 50 bucks a pair, please! :)

....

You have got to be kidding me! they are the cheapest, most worthless scrubs I have ever seen and they want 50 dollars a set?!

Give me a break!

There. I had to whine to people who at least have some idea what I'm on about since DH just tells me to grow up, but doesn't offer me scrub money, either. School starts in a week. -.-

Bright side? The pants aren't white.... yay.

Sorry there is a monopoly on your scrubs! The semester students that started the semester after me have to buy the school scrubs now. They have our patch embroidered on now, instead of the sew on patches. I'm kinda glad I didn't have to do that! I don't like looking 100% like everyone else!

I actually kinda like our scrubs in appearance, nice navy scrubs and a nice white real scrub top (read: no polos or button downs or other atrocities) and our seal is embroidered on along with "Nursing" so you get to feel all special. But I have shopped for scrubs before and 50 for that quality is unheard of. However, I've chosen to just accept it and move on - the learning is important, not if your scrubs cost a fortune and make your butt itch ;)

Thanks for letting me vent - I'm starting to love AN.com - very helpful, informative, fun, and educational!

I think if our scrubs weren't all white with button down top I'd be ok! It just looks so stiff, ya know?! But, it is what it is! And like you said, what we are learning is important!

Let's hope the school is accredited with a quality program. Paying $40,000 for your program--outrageous. I am assuming the school is one of those national, private training companies. Since you mentioned it, I assume you are required to buy your scrubs only from the school and they are charging you. Get one pair only. See if you can find duplicate them with some you can buy elsewhere. If you have embroidery on the scrubs, many companies can duplicate the logo. $50 a set is high for school scrubs. A school I attended required us to buy our scrubs from Dove. They were expensive but they are so well made that I think they will be in great shape years later when I retire--despite all the washings/dryings. Now, I just buy my scribs from WalMart.

Yeah I may try that, and yeah the school is SACS and NLNAC accredited - I would never waste my precious time or money on a school that would set me up for failure!

Thanks for the tips though - I'll have to see if that can be done!!! :)

Good gracious, white bottoms too? I really have no right to complain at all then... and my heart goes out to you!!! :redpinkhe

Well I will never complain about my scrubs! I got 2 ICU tops, 3 ICU bottoms all in indigo plus another ICU top in the required white for Clinicals -- all for about $107. I am missing the lab coat but I just could not bring myself to buy one out of the selection at the store. Good luck to all on their garb search!

We got ours from a vendor since everything is embroidered with the school logo and such. It was actually very affordable! I got two tops, one pair of pants, and a lab coat for $72. Not bad. I like them, too. (:

Right! We do look professional and put together, but goodness you should see how nervous all of us girls get around THAT time of the month!*L*

I'm turning 28 next month and have birthed FOUR children (!!!!) and my OB decided a hysto was in order due to fibroids and cysts and all manner of ugliness - so that, thank the good Lord, is something I will never have to worry about again - and I can tell you, I won't miss it! I pity every one of you girls that still deals with that demon - ESPECIALLY in white scrub pants! Whoever thought that was a good idea should be slapped upside the head with a heavy med-surg book.... honestly.... :uhoh3:
