I LOVE motorycles. But I also know many people see them as death traps. Including my mother. My father owns a motorcycle. Heck he's been riding since before I was born. But that doesn't change her view of them lol

Either way, I was wondering since a lot of you work in hospitals, if it has changed your view of motorcycles. In a more negative way.

Which is funny because I was going down the road once and I saw this male nurse on a sports bike, and not only was he not wearing boots, but he was wearing crocs! Those things will fly right off if you crash. And how did I know he was a nurse? He was wearing scrubs! lol at least he had a helmet.

I am a Nurse and work in the ER. I see lots of trauma and I still own and ride a Harley. I love few things more. I only go for Sunday drives and during the week when traffic is low. I would not own and use a motorcycle as a primary mode of transportation to get from A to B. Many of the accidents I see in the ER are from people trying to get from A to B as fast as possible. I just like to enjoy the ride. Be Safe!

I use to ride a bike when I was in nursing school and now that I have seen alot of traumas caused by motorcycles. After all that I stopped riding. Now I have been recently wanting another one.....but I more then likely not get one due to all the bad things that can happen with them.

I've been riding for over 8 years and 30,000 miles on various motorcycles and my GF also rides as well as the vast majority of my friends. I don't see myself ever stopping riding until I'm not able to physically ride anymore.

30,000 miles is fairly impressive

I covered 25,000 last year alone :D

How many people are mangled, killed or disabled for life in car accidents, boating accidents, bicycle accidents, swimming or even war? A lot. Does that stop people from doing these things? Nope. If you ever went to Europe, I think you would be surprised by how many motorcycles, bicycles and scooters are in use and how much more convenient and thrifty they are. I'll bet not many survive plane crashes, either. Do you fly?

I have been riding for years.....started with mopeds, moved up to vintage scooters and motorcycles up to 1800cc's, so I have experience on a lot of bikes.

My favs are my scooters and my 1973 Honda CL350 Scrambler (it's just so damn nimble!), and yes, after a lot of close calls in South FL, I finally broke my wrist in an accident riding just outside of Nashville. I didn't feel up to riding, and NOW, when I don't feel like riding, I DON'T go! I should have listened to that little voice back then....:uhoh3:

never. My husband had 3 when we met and I asked him to sell them. (I had a friend who had been killed in a motorcyce accident several months earlier at the age of 19) I'm glad he loved me enough to do that for me. (I quit smoking for him and I am grateful to this day!) Years later when our son was around 8, I overheard him ask his dad if he could have a motorcycle to which my wonderful hubby replied " No son, I know if she won't let me have one, she'll NEVER let you have one" I think this is really the only thing I've ever asked him to give up in almost 19 years!

Just recently an old classmate of mine had a wreck on his cycle. He was a very experienced 40 year old that raced bikes. Unfortunately, he was not paying attention and according to news reports was trying to get away from police who were attempting to stop him for speeding when he hit a car carrying a mother and her 5 year old daughter. The daughter died on the scene and he died the next day. What a terrible waste of 2 lives. He wa a good man, just careless at the wrong time.

I would have never found Nursing if I hadn't had a motorcycle accident. I wasn't at fault in the accident and took every precaution to protect my self, but I can't stop someone from running a red and making a turn infront of me.

It took me on an adventure which I am glad to say I just started two weeks ago. I plan on getting another motorcycle in the future, but since I'm lacking in the sleep department due to studying and school I'll be passing on it till the time is right later down the line.

I've owned 5 motorcycles. I was "hit and run" by a car at 55mph from behind. I was wearing a helmet but still had a intracranial bleed. Nearly killed me. I was driving slightly below the speed limit doing everything right. There's just not enough protection. The risk isn't worth the reward. Haven't owned or rode on one since.

Working in the ER, too many traumas involving motorcycles, including amputations.

I owned a Yamaha but I sold it, for the same reason.

It is my regular, daily transportation. I hardly ever drive a car, except when there's ice on the roads or to haul feed or the dogs.
