To All The Nurses In The World

  1. To all the nurses who, perhaps more than any other group on earth, truly ease the suffering in the world.

You evangelists of encouragement, You are so much more than you know.

You have not let what you couldn't do stop you from doing all you could do.

You are salespeople: Your briefcases are filled with a product called hope.

You are explorers, knowing that once you have gone as far as you can see, you will see farther.

You are singers spreading the melody of consideration.

You are lawyers making a case for life.

You are authors helping others add more pages to their book of memories.

You are comedians dispensing the medicine of laughter.

You are magicians creating real miracles that inspire patients and families.

Like King Arthur and Joan of Arc, you are warriors battling against the villians of negatvity.

Dorothy would have reached Oz much faster in the company of one nurse.

For no one can ever practice your profession unless they already posses a brain and a heart filled with love.

You are living proof that humanity is created in the inmage and the likeness of God, and the name of God is LOVE.

You did ask! Mawkish, syrupy, contrived, and as a Pagan, the assumption of the last line is offensive! IMHO

well being an aussie and all that might be a little hard as where a little behind the times here lol. na, well im only a student but that was a lovely thing to write and i am hoping that i can be an inspiring nurse like so many nurses that i have met. and i agree, nurses are a dime a dozen and i feel quite proud that in a year i will be out there with the best of them helping people and doing good things for this world.

Sorry, your Maj. I just get fed up every now and then with the incessant patronising projection of personal superstitions onto the rest of us. Then being pitied for not sharing in these superstitions.
