To all the nurses who, perhaps more than any other group on earth, truly ease the suffering in the world.
You evangelists of encouragement, You are so much more than you know.
You have not let what you couldn't do stop you from doing all you could do.
You are salespeople: Your briefcases are filled with a product called hope.
You are explorers, knowing that once you have gone as far as you can see, you will see farther.
You are singers spreading the melody of consideration.
You are lawyers making a case for life.
You are authors helping others add more pages to their book of memories.
You are comedians dispensing the medicine of laughter.
You are magicians creating real miracles that inspire patients and families.
Like King Arthur and Joan of Arc, you are warriors battling against the villians of negatvity.
Dorothy would have reached Oz much faster in the company of one nurse.
For no one can ever practice your profession unless they already posses a brain and a heart filled with love.
You are living proof that humanity is created in the inmage and the likeness of God, and the name of God is LOVE.
Taken from one of my favorite books-Chicken soup for the Nurses Soul- by John Wayne Schlatter

I kind of know where you are coming from Don. I don't subscribe to any one type of orginized faith but I do respect the right for others to find comfort and solace in whatever brings comfort and solace.
I don't attend a church made of mortar and bricks but I do enjoy the solitude of meditating beside a mountain trout stream where I can contemplate things both within my control and those that are yet a mystery to me.
Am I wrong for not believing in the same God(s) that others do?
We all choose our own path and the right path is the one that works for you.
When I became comfortable with my self, I no longer became uncomfortable with the beliefs of others.
Peace and Love,

I totally agree Rusty!
"When we become comfortable with ourselves and our belief systems , we no longer feel uncomfortable with others' choices.".......Rusty :)
I also enjoy being by a stream or a lake...and fishing is one of my favorite meditative pastimes...a gift my father gave to me :)
I think Rusty's got it. If all believed in the same God, then there wouldn't be a gift from God called freedom of choice. If there was only one path to God, that would make God shallow and limited. I think there is nothing better than to accept, feel, and be a part of nature, which in the belief system of the native American, is becoming one with God.
I respect Rusty, and his point of view, to an extent, But this last post provides an example of what I am getting at.
Some people do not choose to believe in any G-d. The arrogance implicit in the assumption above that their freedom of choice is "A gift from G-d" is patently obvious. I don't need any free gifts, thank you, and certainly not gifts with strings attached.
A person may live their life in a better way than they may otherwise do, in the belief that the ultimate "Big Brother" is watching them. Another person may live just as "good" a life because they choose to do so, without need of supernatural intervention, or Its "permission."
ps. A pagan is one who does not subscribe to Judaism, Islam, or Christianity.
This is all rather off-topic, and on re-reading my original post, perhaps I should have said "patronising" instead of "offensive"

Sorry, your Maj. I just get fed up every now and then with the incessant patronising projection of personal superstitions onto the rest of us. Then being pitied for not sharing in these superstitions.
