Hi there,

I am currently living in NH, working in MA; however I have a true hatred for snow and winter and I am think of moving. I have never been out of New England and would like some info on which state (or town/city if you really want to narrow it down) may be ideal for me or as close to it as possible... I am looking for a state that is warm, but it may have seasons, just not winter. I do not mind cool weather, just not cold or snow. I would also like a state with things to do, if possible, has out door types of things to do, but that is close to city activities. I don't mind rain, but I dont want it everyday. I wold also like a place that has a reasonable ost of living.

So, any ideas?? Any help would be appreciated. I would go visit every state and deside on my own, but that would be to expensive.:wink2:

Thanks for any advise.

Some areas of the mid-Atlantic (Maryland, Virginia) get little or no snow but definitely still experience all 4 seasons. Make sure you're prepared to deal with the humidity in the summer, though.

Having lived in 3 distinctly different areas of the country, I'd also caution that different regions have *very* different cultures ... culture shock can be killer if you're not prepared to embrace the prevailing scene.

Good luck in your search. :)

PS -- in PA we have 4 seasons ... winter, still winter, almost winter, and construction season. :chuckle

Houston Texas! It's warm. No snow or ice during the winter, although it does get chilly in the 40's. Nice city life, no state tax either, the cost of living is not bad at all.

Indiana is cheap cost of living state---we have great lakes and the Colts!!

We also have 4 true seasons...we get snow, but not that much.

South Carolina might be nice.

arizona of course!!

well... if you can stand the 114 degree days like today.. just stay inside for 4 months & the other 8 are beautiful & wonderful with tons to do outside- golfing, hiking, boating (rivers). were just a 6 hour drive from Cali, so you can go to the beach for the weekend. I would definately recommend AZ- I wouldn't live anywhere else as I HATE snow too & an extra bonus- no humidity!

My family moved from CT to the Raleigh/Durham area of NC 11 years ago. They all love it down there.Nice weather, lots to do, etc.

Stay away from the MW, NW, and NE then. You won't be able to escape the extreme heat in the summer if you want to escape the snow. For cost of living, most places in the south are good for the cost of living.

I should mention, I stayed in CT. LOL. I do love it down in NC though. Raleigh/Durham is a beautiful area. But Hubby's family is here so we stay here. Plus, I'm a true Yankee and I don't know if I would make it down South. :chuckle

If I were to live anywhere else though, that would be where I'd go.

Sweetooth, I am also from NH... I'm still here for a few more days but I'm moving to California on August 10th!

I made the decision to move there basically because I've always wanted to live there, and one of the major reasons was that I HATE how long, cold, and snowy our winters are-especially because I live in the southern part of the state which has no mountains!

Even though I love snowboarding, I'll still only be about 2 hours away from a ski resort, which is about how far I live from one now... but I'll still have nice weather pretty much year-round. Cost of living out there is a lot higher, but I'll be getting paid almost twice as much so I think it will pretty much even out.

Good luck to you in whatever path you choose. Let me know if your road takes you west! :)
