obviously, i would love to hear what your facility is doing to honor nurses week. my budget this year is approximately $600.00 however, i have involved subway restaurant, domino s pizza, and vegan/vegetarian restaurant, to donate meals for all shifts including the weekend. in addition, i involved also a nursing scrub store to come to the hospital and bring their latest merchandise since they are having their grand opening, within the activities during our week they will put on a fashion show, plus every hour on the hour they will donate a full set of white-scrubs to one lucky nurse. moreover, i contacted one of the largest dept. store here and they will donate 20 ipads which will be raffled, including a one 40" emerson lcd t.v. with a blue ray component. btw, the nurses won't have to pay anything for the raffle just add their name to the raffle tickets. furthermore, i have included a well known on-line travel company which will donate a 6 night with a companion to a all-inclusive caribbean vacation to a lucky winner. having said that, every year we select the nurse of the year, which receives a one year privileged parking space, a dinner voucher for two plus a complete one day spa indulgent. lastly, on the last day of nurses week we honor florence nightingale birthday by coming to work in our traditional "white uniform" which one lucky nurse will receive a $100.00 gift certificate to a major clothing store, for the most authentic traditional white uniform ensemble, as we celebrate with a traditional luau party lunch . wishing all of the members, and the staff of all-nurses.com the best always... let the celebrations begin.... mahalo & aloha~

WOW how FUN! Great job attaining all the great prizes! :yeah:

Sounds like you worked hard to reward the nurses. A shame that the facility would not provide this and you needed to reach out into the community.

I got a plastic coin purse with the hospital's logo on it last year.

Needless to say.. I am not holding my breath this year.

Nor am I going to check what the bigwigs bonuses were.

I don't know yet. Last year all the nurses each got a Target gift card. It was either $10 or $15, I can't remember.

My past facilities have celebrated it with a poster- IF a vendor was kind enough to give them one. (Usually the only way I know that it's "Nursing Week," I know that's horrible.

i just wanna know one thing....are you hiring?? :lol2: to be fair, my first nurses week they had free 5 min chair massages and last year i think they had a nice meal on days and i did get a nice wooden picture frame with facility logo on it, i gave it to my daughter and she put a pic of her & her BFF in the frame and covered the logo with cute stickers  i think i saw another one of those picture frames at salvation army last week, should have grabbed it for my other kiddo...how nice you are to make nurses week so special...i think they did cool stuff like that for doctors week...

Seriously?!?!?! WOW, that is fantastic!! Those nurses are very lucky to have you honoring them in such a way. I was always happy to get a tote bag.

Like Many Who Responded here, Boy do we wish we worked with and at such a great place with people who take care of each other. That being said, it can easily start with us. Thanks for the inspiration, I may work alone as a respite But I can still celebrate my job. Attitude is the begining. Mahalo and Happy Lei day!

I wish I worked for you! This year, working for a new employer, I got a gift card to Macy's which is way more than I ever got in the last 4 years. My hospital used to give out $5 gift cards to the cafeteria but they stopped doing that a while ago because of the "budget". My former co-workers told me that all they got this year was an e-mail telling them they could get free CEUs.
