Motorcyclist nurses out there?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Does anyone ride motorcycles to work or when you take time off? I've been drooling over a Harley Street Glide Special and I've been wondering if nursing is the type of field where you have time to do what you want or is it the type of career where you get little time for anything except maybe a few hours to cook and 8 hours worth of time to sleep and then repeat working, eating, and sleeping.

I must say, OP, you certainly have managed to come up with a plethora of nursing-related questions. You must be the single most educated pre-nursing student out there on random issues.

Maybe you'll find an answer in this thread: https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-discussion/hobbies-off-duty-1067853.html

You've got jokes! How about a topic regarding just motorcycle riding instead of an article about a more broad topic.

I ride a KYMCO 300 scooter (knees don't bend so well anymore, lol). Great mileage, and special parking areas at the hospital for bikes. Gets a little cold in the winter so I wear sweat pants over the scrubs for traveling. Since most of us work 12 hour shifts, you have 3-4 days off a week (I have 5 since I work parttime), and love to go touring around the mountains and all here.

As long as you're careful for them deers, you should have plenty o'time with your motorcycling ...

Hey, deers can really hurt a motorcyclist! True story. Yeah, definitely watch out for deers.

I read a guy who hit a moose with his Street Glide special, I think it was a street glide, and in the blog he said it was totaled and LE had to put the moose down. I think he said it was a young moose like a calf/adult, 900lbs. Frankly, if I"m riding a Harley that isn't built around horsepower but more around torque, I'm not going to ride like a bat out of hell lol

Sounds like a nice ride!

Does anyone, who does not live in California, lane split to work?

I am tempted now to post this in the Hobbies off duty as a nurse thread just so you know that I have jokes too....but I used to work with a nurse who rode her motorcycle too and from work almost every day. She always had helmet hair when she arrived (not a judgement, just remembering). She was one of the most interesting and unique nurses that I have ever worked with, and was very smart and experienced at her job. One day she brought in cupcakes. On her motorcycle. Now that was impressive.

My Bf is a nurse and he has two motorcycles. I ride on the back a lot....if that counts as anything? Be sure to wear a helmet!
