MCdonalds in Hospital - page 5

What would you think if your local hospital had a Mcdonalds on the hospital grounds. Wouldnt it be even funnier if your hospital was one of the top 100 cardiovascular facilities in the country. ... Read More

My question was directed to anyone here who works outside the US. Just curious, because McD's are springing up around the world. They're more prolific than rabbits.

No MacDonalds etc, in UK hospitals as far as I'm aware of.I imagine it would cause an uproar. In my town there is one about 50 yards from a local high school and the kids have been banned from eating there at lunch times. The parents were furious it had been opened so close.

I also work at a major teaching hospital, we have a Chick Fil A. Our cafeteria food is absolutely the worst, and this is the seventh hospital I have worked in. I don't know if a Mickey Ds would make things any worse than they already are.

I think we could learn a thing or two from the Brits on this matter.

(Not that traditional British food appeals to me--boiled meat & potatoes, lol)

.......Actually, I'm sorry to burst the bubble but that isn't true. There is (and has been for many years) a MacDonalds within the grounds of Guy's Hospital in London!

They also have a Starbuck's opposite the main gates and there is a pub at the back gate that has a Pizza Hut upstairs!

I know this, 'cos I enjoyed all of the above in my time as a hard working RN on a cardiothoracic surgical unit!! :roll

....Big Macs and fries on nights. Fantastic!!

I am not sure what the last few replies were about. However I am not sure that they were about this topic. Can anyone help ???????????

No, there is a porno spammer around here...who is posting a link to a prono site to every thread in this forum. As a co-moderator of this forum, I cannot delete these posts, only edit them and remove the link. Sorry for the confusion.

Yep,you're right. My son had an appointment at Southampton General Hospital yesterday.(cardiac surgery centre for the area) and there is a Burger King in the foyer.
    I'm just horrified.

I work in Albany NY and our cafeteria is *great*. THey have a salad bar, all sorts of rolls and wraps, yogurts, desserts, as wells as cheeseburgers, bocca burgers, zuccini sticks. Dinner is also very good. an i must mention the best coffee within 5 minute walk.
The food is ok priced, but the cold drinks are very expensive. A few times a year, u can even get a free dinner served by the hospital CEOs.

If the cafeteria was replaced by McDonalds, I think most of the staff would be unhappy. Sinse I work on the cardiac floor, I would also be devastated, because we get a lot of patients with all sorts of problems and diabetes, who will make sure they pig out on McDs.
