For some reason I was thinking about Spinal Tap, at the end, when the guy says he would sell hats if he wasn't a musician.

So if you weren't a nurse, what would you have become?

If I was being serious, probably a social worker, because when I went back to school, I was debating between social work and nursing.

If I was being whimsical, I'd be an astronaut. Even though I think I'm too tall, and know I'm too out of shape and don't have the science and engineering brain for it. But it's a fun thought!

Living off the land without having to worry about money, bills, war, etc. Having the privilege of peace and silence out in the middle of nowhere with just the sound of nature around (maybe a person or two as well)...perhaps have a friend named Wilson.
Sounds dreamy. If I became independently wealthy, I could definitely drop out of society, leave the world behind, and become one of those forgotten recluses or hermits who survives primarily due to being self-sufficient.

Well, probably a D.O. I became a chiropractor which is 1/4 a D.O. simply b/c I didn't know enough about Osteopathy to have started down that road. Now, I'm an RN and looking for an RN gig, shortly enrolling in an NP program. So I guess I can only say I would be a healthcare worker b/c after all these career choices, that's the only common title that fits. Other than that? Mechanic b/c that's basically what I'm doing on a person rather than a car: checking the dummy lights, reading the codes, fixing the wiring, patching the dents, filling holes, welding it up, fluid changes and alignment. Sometimes some sanding and & painting and if need be, reprogramming the computer. Cars & people...eh, same thing.

probably something in the health care field- dental hygenist, registered massage therapist

Realistically -- I got into DVM school and probably would have gone if nursing hadn't popped into my head. I don't necessarily think that I would have been happier 'tho. Actually, I'm pretty certain that I'd be even more unhappy than I am now.

To the person who mentioned WalMart: I was *very* happy working as a cashier at WalMart. But probably not so happy making $9.50/hour with no benefits and an uncertain number of hours per paycheck now that I'm not a college student anymore.

If I could turn back time about ten years, I'd probably have followed my dad and gone to medical school.

In fantasy land, I would have been some modern day Jane Goodall but studying elephants instead.

realistic- travel agent, well maybe not since there's no market for that anymore.

not realistic , but would love to own/operate a horse boarding/riding stable and or kennel for cats and dogs. I love my 4 legged friends. I have worked in the horse field before as a groom for show horses- and let me say- Those owners can be persnickety( nothing like the 8 year old handing off their 50,000$ pony to you and saying "here, cool him out" ) but after all the abuses I 've dealt with in nursing, Id rather have that instead.

ohhh, someday......

I went from Statistician to Nurse. If I had not gone into nursing, and considering my age, I probably would have become an auto mechanic. If I were about 10 years younger, I probably would have become a geneticist.
