If you could no longer work as a nurse, what would you do?

If you could no longer work as a nurse, for whatever reason, what other job or career would you choose? This is assuming that you have only ever worked as a nurse and your degree is strickly nurse related.

i will open a restaurant and hire chefs who are ex-nurses. nobody would choke to death in my restaurant. = )

I would do either massage, or work in a nail shop and do feet. Or maybe both.

I would love to go back to work in electronics..I used to solter those green circuit boards and if they didn't work I would go back to figure out why It was like solving puzzles all day I loved it

Farming, raising and educating kids in a big family, writing kids stories books, teaching, reading stories for my kids each night... cooking....making jam, and pickles on the fall and bread....peacefull life....

I would probably be a writer, and I'd write about my experiences as a nurse, as well as other things. Another career path I would find interesting is a forensic scientist.

I would be a chef, without question. My whole family loves to cook and on my days off I love to explore new recipes and test them on my fiance (he doesn't mind!). My sister just completed culinary school and works as an actual chef in a restaurant. The rest of my immediate family is just very talented and creative in the kitchen. For me, cooking is relaxing because I just turn up my IPod, dance around the kitchen and cook up some delicious food!!

This is very interesting. All 3 of my children aspire to be chef's. My middle child was lucky enough to 'be in the right place at the right time' and was given 'free' instruction through the country that she works at. My youngest is taking culinary arts in high school right now and my oldest is currently taking culinary classes while simultaneously catering private parties.

How long has your sister been working as a chef? How does she like it? Challenges? Perks??

my husband and I are wanting to open a halfway house for female addicts and their children.

but if i were no longer able to practice as an RN, i would go back to bookkeeping. i used to LOVE working with numbers.

Hmmm, what different options for you! Working with numbers vs working with people! Two very different things. Is your husband also a nurse? A social worker?

What started your interest in halfway houses for addicts? How far have you gone into 'looking into' this...? I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it would be to get all of this together, and it's good that you like numbers. Wow, I'd really like to hear more about this if you care to share. It sounds fascinating to me!

Sighhh, s much 'softer, gentler' time! Reminds me of the days when my children were young and I had time to be the 'class mom', make holloween costumes from scrach, be the 'pied piper' of the neighborhood, teaching crafts, or making them with 'the girls' after all of our children and husbands had gone to bed, or putting the kids to bed, get a sitter and go out:wink2:, cookies/breads from scratch, bedtime rituals, holiday traditions:p!! Ahh, sighhh. Sometimes i do miss this so much, but hey, I do still look forward to grandchildren!!!
