I got fired!

I recently was terminated from my position as a Dialysis nurse. They did me dirty. I was accused of doing the very thing I had written an aide up for. Nothing happend to her but I was fired. I am devastated! Anybody out there experienced a unfair termination?

It does sound like a setup- so the aide was caught falsifying documentation twice and was only written up, while they said you did it once and you were fired? I don't understand that at all, especially considering the circumstances. I would meet with the higherups and plead your case with them.

It seems that losing your job was a blessing. This kind of poisonous work atmosphere is no place to work. However the reason used for your dismissal sounds very troubling. I would definitly want that part of it changed. Ask if you can have this changed to a resignation. Ask politely, and if this does not work then turn up the heat with the name of your Lawyer. If this place is so intimmidated by the threats of this other employee, they will likely allow you to resign rather than face your Lawyer.

I worked as charge nurse in an ICU and was written up on several occasions 1) for asking the aide to help with a bath, 2) for asking the unit clerk if she would stock syringes, and 3) finally for asking a nurse to help transfer a new patient from the gurney to the bed. Mind you, I asked- did not demand that each of them do any of this. Later on I found out that the Clinical Coordinator, (our supervisor) had been asking people in our critical care areas over the past few months if I had done anything to upset them and encouraged them to write me up if I ever did, apparently looking for a reason to fire me. Eventually I had enough of it and let her have it, verbally, :angryfire although i would love to have given her a thump on the head. So I was fired. Good riddens to that job. I'm Native American and could easily have called this a racial matter. But why? Her being a &!+(# was more closely the reason for the incident. I just wasn't willing to put up with her crap. I know I'm a great nurse. She knows it, too. she also cannot put me through any more hardships.:nurse: There are too many opportunities out there for great nurses. I'm much happier now.

I've done dialysis in TX and won't do it anymore. In my experience, the techs are in charge of the units, not the nurses.

i think its really sad when there is racists in the work place especially in the health field. and zoe im like the rest it looks like you were set up. plus it also look like there favoristm.

I Hope everything works out for you sorry you got fired.

hint: next don't cry/vomit never let them see you sweat

Dale, easier said than done.

Crying, vomitting is sometimes uncontrollable.

Once you learn the hard way your body's signs that you are about

to "lose it" it is easier to get away from people before the tears/emesis,

but until you learn that, the responses just come with no control.

And you weren't able to explain anything to them? Or they just didn't want to hear it? To me that's just crazy. You should have at least been given a chance to speak; you have that right or don't we anymore??? Be assured, I would have made myself heard whether or not they wanted to hear it especially if I knew that I didn't do anything wrong and the whole thing was a set up. I'll agree though with that kind of work environment, you're better off getting out of there.

I Only Wish I Could Vomit On Demand! Then I Would For Sure Vomit All Over A Certain Instructors Desk!!!
