How are you saying MRSA? I've heard it many different ways.

Mar sa

Mer sa

M R S A

Both MRSA and mer sa seem to be used regularly around here, but I have one nurse i work with who calls it mer sa staph. Makes me nuts! I always want to ask her, " just what is it you think the 'S' in M.R.S.A. stands for ?"

Oh you and both witht the MRSA staph!! Our local TV news has been all over the "MRSA scare", as we've had quite a few cases in high school kids. Two reporters are FOREVER saying MRSA staph...ugggh!!! They have even given the words for the letters and added STAPH at the end...uhhh a bit redundent isn't it?!

I've never heard anybody around here say M R S A

At the hospital I work at, everyone pronounces it as "Mer-sa". No one ever says it by its initials.

I say it by its initials: "M-R-S-A"

Some of my coworkers say, "Mursa."

I only ever hear it called by initials "M-R-S-A".

I've never heard anyone actually pronounce it out as a word.

Interesting though, if I had ever heard anyone say it as "Mersa" I'd be like "HUH?!?!" lol

I have fun reading about this one, that is why I posted it!

Its just that the media has been all over MRSA in our area due to the increase in highschool students that have been testing postive.

I cringe every time I listen to a report.

It is MRSA for me.

I agree. I just started a post about this on the general forum. I think Mer-sa sounds weird. I've always heard MRSA when getting report, never have I heard Mer-sa until our school started telling us about it. I told the principal if people tried to google Mer-sa they wouldn't find anything! Luckily some papers came home about it.
