How are you saying MRSA? I've heard it many different ways.
Mar sa
Mer sa
M R S A
mrsai had never heard of mer-sa until the media took up the hue/cry
i have heard of cabbage in getting report but in years on a cardiac surgery floor i only heard used a couple of times by personnel
regional thing i guess
I came into nursing in my late 30's/early 40's and thought medical terms were weird. . . . I had a hard time writing SOB because to me it meant a profanity. Now I write it w/o even thinking about it.
Everyone says cabbage here . . . especially in CCU.

this is just driving me crazy. i am so sick of hearing m.e.r.s.a... how about mrsa and leave it at that. what's up with all the cutzie nicknames for a rotten bacteria.
you are right about the cutsie nick names! won't be long before we have mama's naming their precious babies mersa!
where i'm from we call it m.r.s.a.
When I first started my CNA classes my instructor would always talk about an infection called "Mercer" we needed to be aware of. Not having any education, I kept googling and trying to research Mercer to no avail. I did not know what she was talking about until I put 2 and 2 together at the nursing home and realized what she was talking about.
However, at my hospital, we say Mer-sa.
