I was emailed by someone name --------- from centrums jobs, she said that they already initiated the procedure towards my employment contract in European Union. I dont know how they got my email address, but i have also applied online many times and sometimes i do not remember anymore all of them. now they are asking me to complete my requirements such as 1.CV European standard 2. Work permit application form 3. Motivation letter, containing and 4. Your personal registration number from the foreign work force office. Since I don not know what are these. They have referred me to a specialist that will helped me in all these documents. I have talked to them through online chat and the specialist asked me to send 72 euro for all the documents. 72 euro is not much of a money, however AI do not want to be played. Is there really European Union? anyone had this kind of email??

thank you..

That sounds like a scam where they harvest your information and have someone else in another counrty use it like you travelled there to work. They can do a lot of damage with your personal information. Even clean out your account when you give bank info for direct deposit and use your check for 72 Euros to make more checks and/or write large ones in your name. By the time the bank figures it out you are broke and you willingly gave the information to the company so there is no reimbursement for you.

A friend almost got caught in a similar scam, but got saved by a police sting that was watching the team of thieves. If you do not feel comfortable, do not do it.

I have been recieving this type of email coming out of some Euro recruitment agency too. I never even bother to follow up because I think it is fraudulent. We are going through the most unscrupulous times our generation has ever seen in the world of business. Once you send them your money they have no obligations to meet your expectations. They are overseas and inaccessable to you. Remember they are not your potential employers, they are just a 'third party' who can offer no guarantees. These people will take your money and keep you hanging and hoping. They will keep making excuses as to why you are not hired and then tell you it is not their fault. You will never get back your money.

If you are ever going to pay for a job, let them first get the job for you and then take payment from your earnings. Protect yourself. whenever recruitment companies don't do things this way, it is usually because they don't need you nor your services, they need your money. They are not selling you a tangible service, they are selling you hope.

I am talking from experience. Buying hope of employment is totally worthless to you.

Specializes in acute care med/surg, LTC, orthopedics.

Surely there is a government agency you can report these scammers to so they don't keep getting away with extortion.

Specializes in ER, Trauma.

Since some state Boards of Nursing sell mailing lists of nurses (Grrrrrr) I'd contact them for advice, also consider contacting the Attorneys General in your state. Nobody hiring a nurse would be asking for money like that. Save as much as you can in writing from them including emails. Keep us posted too. This is a good one. That'll be $75 for the advice, in small unmarked bills with non sequential serial numbers in a plain brown bag left behind the third trash can on the Left.

Don't do it! My friend fell for a scam that sounds similar and they ended up draining her savings account. She contacted the police but she couldn't get the money back.

You should notify authorities. They have teams working on scams like this.

I found this on the web:

There is NO company called Centrum Jobs in London. It's been reported many times a job scam that will want you to send money for various reasons and to various other fake companies with names like Brightcove, EuroSalary, Paladin Media, EuroJobsTeam, etc, etc until you finally figure out there is NO job and you've just sent hundreds if not thousands of pounds to some scammer with no way to get it back

Remember - it's illegal for any UK recruitment agency to charge ANY fees to the job seeker. The employer is responsible for all fees. If you've been asked to pay anything, even 1 pound, they are breaking the law. But this company is not even a legal UK company to begin with

And if you are from the Philippines, remember that ONLY POEA licensed agencies can recruit Filipinos for overseas jobs. And if you look on their site, you'll see that the only company called Centrum has not been authorised since 2006

i have received an email coming from the UK embassy based in my home country as a response to my inquiry, that when someone whom you don't know asked some amount of money for the processing of your application or whatsoever never ever give them a money. It's a scam. Like in my case, I was emailed by someone saying that i applied for this certain position and asking me to send them money for the processing of my working visa in London. based from the email sent to me by the UK embassy, the processing of working visa should be done here in my home country and application should be done personally.:)
