Just wondering if there were any nurses or nursing students here from Tennessee? Thanks, Sandy.

Wendy, sorry to hear that your are unhappy in Memphis. I was born and raised in Memphis and am happy here. I must admit that a great deal of my satisfication with Memphis is related to my family being here. I now live in the "memphis area" which means that I don't actually live in Memphis anymore, but am close enough to work in Memphis.

Which means you live in one of the burbs or in Mississippi, but this is not the same as living within the limits of this good city. So, again I say there is not ONE good thing I can say about Memphis and from your post neither can you. This is just my opinion and we all know what opinions are like
I understand why you would not like living in Memphis. Memphis is not the same city that I grew up in. Many things are wrong and we left the city for the burbs several years ago because of those problems. But I also feel some how disloyal being critical of my home town. Are you planning on staying in Memphis?

Whoa pony....what an attitude! I am usually really nice, but I can't help this one....last I remember there were roads leading OUT of Memphis...so what's keeping you there? If you're so miserable then leave.

Hey all, I too grew up not too far from Memphis and am thinking about relocating back to the outskirts of that area. I am here in the panhandle of Florida and the work and pay here is a little behind in the times of other areas. Sort of economically depressed in other words. I have been a nurse for 12+ years and worked in south, central and now in panhandle of Florida. So, i guess i can say been there, done that. I think the quality of life would be better for me and my family there, it is very beautiful in the rural parts of the state. Also you are not required to keep up with all the new changing requirements for keeping your nursing license there as here in Florida, what a nightmare! Hope to be up there real soon, already have my application for endorsement and very excited to make a change. P.S. The cost of housing in Tenn. is a lot cheaper than here.

Is someone making a list of all of us who are in TN so we can coordinate a get together?
I work at the VA in Nashville and am very happy there. The money and benefits are excellent, and while I am not fond of unions, there is one there that is pretty active.
I went to nursing school at a small private college called Cumberland University in Lebanon. It probably isn't as expensive as Belmont, but you have to want to drive 20 miles east of Nashville to go to school. It was a good school and we had very good clinical experiences.
I am thrilled to meet (cyber wise) so many other Tennesseans!

I live in Murfreesboro and went to school in Tullahoma (Motlow State CC). Just graduated in May. Already taken and passed boards and am working in Nashville at Baptist and love it.

Glad to hear you like my home town, Baptist used to been a great training place for nurses, sounds like maybe they still are.Sometimes I think I'd like to move back but we've been in a small town for so long now I'm not sure I'd like big city living anymore, and Nashville has certianly grown-up fast. Good luck to you, hope you continue to enjoy being a nurse!
