Jobs in healthcare ranked in the top of you.S News recent report of 2015's 100 best jobs. Nurse Practitioners lead the way of healthcare workers in the overall number 2 position, while Registered Nurses are close behind in the number 9 slot. As nurses, we know how valuable we are to the healthcare system as a whole. We also know that we are respected by the public. Nurses have consistently ranked in the top position of the Gallup poll with Americans rating nurses as having the highest honesty and ethical standards.

How do our salaries compare with the overall respect and importance placed on our jobs? How do our salaries compare to non-medical professionals, such as professional athletes? Salaries are a very important part of our jobs. While we may love our jobs, the compensation we receive is what pays the bills.

There have been many surveys done to determine the average nursing salaries based on location, experience, specialty, and several other factors. We have even done a few informal surveys on allnurses.

We would like you to participate in this year's nursing salary survey. Please answer the questions as they relate to your primary nursing job. If you have more than one nursing job, you may fill out an additional survey.

We are using a survey tool so that we will be better able to analyze and report the results to you. There are several questions, however, we feel the information provided by answers to these questions will give us a better picture of the nursing salaries and various factors which may affect them.

If you are an active licensed nurse, please take a few minutes to participate. Also, you are encouraged to post comments and questions here. Your input will be greatly appreciated. We will try to incorporate your comments in our results.

I got the email invite and completed the survey today. Interested to see the final results. Real curious to see where, if anywhere wages are actually increasing. Just wondering, will there be a way to compare final results with results from last year to find out how wages are trending? It seems from reading posts on AN that wages are pretty stagnant everywhere, curious to see if the survey results support that.

So far, over 4000 nurses have completed the survey!

Since it includes CRNPs in the data it always annoys me, my state NP organization does it also, that the top hourly wage would be listed as $60 an hour. If we as a profession aren't even aware that there are many NPs who practice independently aren't making significantly more than $60 an hour its no wonder there are still some NPs who barely make more than they did as RNs. :(

The downside to the survey is that it doesn't ask the average amount of hours worked in a week!

Survey Monkey Strikes again. They love giving the other option without the radio button to support it!

there is a fatal error in the survey. the other option for salary does not work because the developer did not include a radio button. so you are forced to select an option even though there is a box to type in other. This is not the first time (even this week) I have noticed this same error with survey monkey. The results will certainly be skewed.
