don't know if I can go on

  1. I graduated last May, and still have not passed the boards. I took the nclex review course offered at college, and I am now taking the ncsbn online course. I am getting so depressed. I have 2 kids and I am a stay at home mom. I study when I get the chance. I have no family to help me, and I have limited income. I did great in college and made the dean's list every semester. THis will be my 3rd attempt to pass the test. I take it on the 20th. I am getting fustrated cause when I do the questions, I am not getting very many right. I have the Kaplans book and I have done that too..I am about ready to just give up... I need to pass just to get a job to put food on the table............

Hang in there!!! I have a son, too and can't seem to concentrate but I am retesting this month, too. I am trying to focus on my weakness. It's not our time yet so please do not give up.

Please don't give up. I too will be taking the nclex for the third time in June. I am also feeling a little discouraged. It just isn't our time yet. I am going to take the online Kaplan coarse just because everyone i have talked to says it really works. I really don't have the money either, however, because I did the interim permit last year I will be getting enough tax return to invest into the coarse and pay for the exam again. I don't have any kids, but I truly feel for you. Try to stay focused on passing the test, and study as much as you possibly can. You can do it.

Try getting together with someone else that will be taking the exam the same time as you and the two of you do the on-line questions together. Sometimes it helps to have someone there, and you can then explain your reasoning to them for each of your answers.

    Hope that this helps...............but I wouldn't quit.......

I know exactly how you feel. I also graduated in May and I have taken and failed boards five times. It is so stressful. I also have 2 kids. I am going to take the Kaplan course and retest in May. I now have to take the new format test. Just hang in there, it will all be worth it one day. Everything happens for a reason. We just have to pray really hard and study really hard, and we WILL pass this test. It's just ONE test, that's it....

Do NOT give up on yourself. No matter how many times you have to take this, keep getting back on that horse. You CAN and you WILL pass. You CAN and you WILL.

Chin up. You CAN. You WILL. :kiss

Hey I always direct everyone that is preparing to take NCLEX to read the letter at the link I am going to drop, it helped me greatly with the anxiety level and just understanding how the test works seemed to make it more reasonable.

Don't give up Amanda44. I know what you're going through. I'm 25 and have 2 kids. I graduated in December and failed my first test in 2/28. I felt so depressed when I failed it. I'm getting ready to take it again on 6/1. Don't give up. You have come a long way to quit now. I also heard that online Kaplan is a huge help. That's what I'm doing now. I also did fine in Nursing school so I thought I could pass thist test. Boy was I wrong. Now I'm doing everything I can to prepare for this exam.

Jazznkate...I take my test tomorrow, and I am already feeling down. I took the ncsbn review course online. I would of liked to take the Kaplan , but it is too expensive. I did a set of 180 questions last night and only got 110 right. I feel hopeless. I don't even want to take it tomorrow....

Don't give up, Amanda you have put so much into this. Have you tried the Lippencott NCLEX review? IT's very comprehensive, and covers everything. ALso, I was recently given a copy of a book called Nursing Made Insanely Easy by Sylvia Rayfield & Loretta Manning. If you're a visual learner, it will help you immensely. It uses pictures, acronyms, and mnemonics, and I "wish" I had it in nursing school. You may be able to pick up a used copy on amazon or another online bookstore. I can't recomnend that book enough. I browsed through it the week before I sat for boards, and I think it helped me.

Keep plugging on Amanda, you owe it to yourself and your kids. You worked hard for this, and you *will* pass, and long as you don't give up!
    Best of luck to you.
