sooooo...what are your thoughts of mandatory Flu shots for health care workers? we got the ultimatum....get the shot or get the ax. So I got my first ever flu shot yesterday. just sitting arround waiting to get sick now!!!!!

Who will pay my mortgage and support my family if I end up on a respirator? There is no recourse if we become ill, yet we are supposed to just roll over and accept this? How long will the hospital you work for hold your position if you become ill, how long will they pay you once your sick time runs out? Nobody seems to care about these issues

I want to make sure that i understand here. You believe that it is MORE likely that you become seriously ill from the vaccine and end up on a respirator, than that you (or someone you infect) will become seriously ill WITHOUT the vaccine? That you have a greater risk of getting sick and missing work due to the vaccine than influenza itself? :confused:

The problem is that FORCING people to put CHEMICALS and god only knows what else, into their bodies is not ETHICAL and should be against the law. :smackingf

No one talks about the potential risks associated, nor their safety or the 100 times the RDA of Mercury in them. Do it if you want to, if you believe the propaganda, if you believe that it will help you personally, go for it- It's your right to choose to do so. :yelclap:

It's just like any other medication and carries just as much risk- and NO protection or compensation if you have a reaction. That makes it my right to decline it. :yeah:

It does NOT make you a danger/killer to your patients if you decline the vaccine, especially if you are diligent and conscious about hygiene, handwashing, ect..

Holistic care is NOT practiced enough. And that is what is dangerous. We can't rely on pills and shots to keep us healthy. We need to live healthy lifestyles, with healthy food, vitamins, exercise.. HANDWASHING IS THE SINGLEMOST PREVENTATIVE THING YOU CAN DO TO CONTROL AND STOP THE SPREAD OF DISEASE! :nurse:

How do you "boost" your immunity without ever being sick?

I can't wait to have a patient with swine flu cough all over me, that way I can get it now- naturally, before it becomes the plague- as the media has hyped it to be. :idea:

The drug companies have their hidden agendas and part of that is big contracts with the government.

Just look at childrens vaccines and the rise of autism. That's a whole other controversy.. :angryfire

Good for you if you don't care if you get the shot or not- but I do and WHATEVER my reasoning is- it doesn't matter- because it is my choice..

If a hospital wants to put forth their policies, they should do it WITHOUT risking their employees- LIKE EDUCATION...

Anybody who thinks I, or anyone else, should just shut up and roll up our sleeves had best think again! I have already told my facility that I will NOT be taking this new vaccine, they can do whatever they want to about it. But it is NOT happening, period!

At a medical center near me, all employees refusing to take the seasonal flu or H1N1 vaccines can continue to work. However, they must wear a face mask at all times from October 1 until the end of the seasonal/H1N1 flu season when they are in any medical center building. This includes those in non-patient care positions as well.

Employees put a small sticker on their ID badges (one for seasonal, one for H1N1) indicating they had the vaccines.

It does because it is a medication- I don't get your reference, I don't see how it relates.

The issue is that I do not want to be forced to put a CHEMICAL in my body for the "sake" of protecting OTHER people when there is also no guarantee that it would work and 2- NO protection or compensation should that injection give me long or short term complications- period.

It has been proven that WASHING YOUR HANDS IS THE FIRST AND FOREMOST PREVENTATIVE MEASURE IN CONTROLLING OR STOPPING THE SPREAD OF DISEASE. (not a shot)

Even if you get the shot- You still need to practice this as #1 and CRAM THAT DOWN EVERYONES THROAT.

I prefer taking care of myself, washing my hands and living a healthy lifestyle and getting the occasional cold and flu from my kid- to build up my immune system naturally and not have to worry about MINOR or SEVERE complications resulting from a shot.

And I shouldn't be penalized if you choose to heavily rely on this shot and choose not to ACCEPT the reasonable natural alternative.

Shouting fire if there is one saves lives, and shouting when their isn't one still does not physically affect anyone, so again- that does not make any sense to me. But you are entitled to your own opinion- but it should not be forced upon me to accept.

These shots are not vitamins folks. You have no idea who made them, whats in them and how they have been tested and approved for safety.

I'd rather take my chances getting sick the old fashion way.. Anybody have swine flu?

Ok.. Well the propaganda surrounding shots adds to the publics "panic", and I think that you have then proved my point.

Educating people how to protect themselves is a much more realistic approach than saying take this shot or else- even though it may not work, you may not need it, you may react to it, and it's no one else's fault if you choose to take it and have a reaction, or get sick anyway.

Instead I think it gives the wrong message to people and takes away from the importance of the alternantive methods of keeping yourself healthy. There should be a sense of urgency on promoting these alternatives to the shot.

Maybe it should be somewhat mandatory for those who don't live a healthier lifestyle, those who have many risk factors.

But don't put me at added risk for other peoples choices to live less than healthy lifestyles.

It's a terrible analogy for two reasons. First, you don't have the "right" to yell anything in a theater. You don't have any free speech right in a private theater, whether you yell "fire" or "peaches". Second, there is a huge difference between not wanting an under-researched vaccine chemical jabbed into your body vs. causing hysteria for no good reason.

You could say that for every vaccine you have ever taken. Didn't you have to have certain vaccines before you entered nursing school? Does your employer require you to have certain vaccines? Do you know who made any of them or what is really in them.
