Passed CRNE on 4th attempt

I want to share my story with everyone out there who thinks the CNO will not allow a 4th write. I graduated from BScN program in 2011, I wrote my exam 3 times and failed by just a few marks each time and thought my nursing dreams were over. It was my mothers idea for me to write the CNO a letter requesting a 4th attempt. I called the CNO and spoke with a lady who was extremely helpful she explained to me you cannot have a 4th write BUT you can request one of your exams to be "nulled". So I faxed a letter requesting another 3rd write. In the mean time I was filling out paper work to write my CPNRE (RPN exam). I received good news I was allowed to write my RPN exam and was granted a 2nd attempted on a 3rd write ( in other words a 4th write). I wrote my RPN exam in Oct 2013 and my RN exam in Nov 2013. I didn't tell anyone I was writing so I had no pressure or test anxiety and was success on both exams!

I would love to know what reason you used to have the results of your third attempt nullified. It's curious to me that you would have left that information out of your post and that you've ignored sado's three attempts to obtain further information from you.

Hello I wrote the CPNRE in Sept. And CRNE Oct .. Sorry for that error. Anyways to answer your questions. I wrote a letter stating I had test anxiety, and requested another write as well as special accommodations for a separate room to write in, which was granted and helped me so much. Sado what is your email address of you have more questions I can answer.

I apologize

Hello

has anyone had an experience where they were unsuccessful on the CRNE on all three attempts then they applied for CPRNE!. I feel it as very humiliating and degrading. If in a situation like that would you leave Canada had you applied to the US and passed the NCLEX as an RN or choose to be a second graded RPN where you lived all your life and went to school and graduated with honours as an RN.

Having dreams to not only become a specialist RN but move into clinical settings as an instructor and be the masters prepared professional you know you still have potential to become.

Devastated by the fact when you recollect as a student who DID pass the program with the same type of exams yet the CRNE become a

stump.

I am confused. I sometimes plan of leaving Canada and proving myself as an RN in the US then challenging Canadian Nursing once it looses it's own CRNE identity and asking them why can't I be a Nurse here when I was fine in US. Going to court on human rights and evidence of safe nursing practise

I welcome thoughts and suggestions

Hello

Has anyone had an experience where they failed all 3 attempts at the CRNE and then applied for the CPRNE. In the process feeling humiliated and degraded.Recollecting the fact that you had passed a highly reputed program and went through the same types of exams the CRNE is comprised of yet the CRNE became a stump.

If you were in a situation like that would you choose to leave Canada after having applied and passed the NCLEX as an RN or stay as a second graded RPN in Canada where you lived all your life and went to school and graduated as an honours RN.

I sometimes plan or ( you can say) think of leaving Canada ,,, practising RN nursing in US then come back only to challenge Canadian Nursing once it looses it's own" CRNE" identity in 2015 and question them as to why can't I practise here when I had been safe and competent in US as per " safe practise / evidence based proof" by going to court on human rights and professional grounds to reason integrity of my knowledge/ capability to be an RN and the legal system.

Not sure if going to court and throw Human rights and professional grounds to reason integrity is the way to go. Many countries not just Canada require you to pass in 3 attempts. They have a right to set a standard as the role at the end of the day is to protect the public

I find your comments on CPNRE offensive. I've said it before and I'll say it again, becoming an LPN should not be a consolation prize for a BScN degree holder who can't pass an entrance to practice exam.

You may be able to write the essays and perform well under the close supervision a student nurse receives but at the end of the day you fail to demonstrate your fitness to practice by being unable to pass an exam. How would you cope under the pressure of a hectic floor, when the code team is on the unit and you still have to look after your patients and help with the other patients? You can't ask to have it peaceful and quiet so you can concentrate.

You haven't passed the NCLEX required to practice in the US, so how you can make claims about how fantastic a nurse you will be there? Your logic is faulty.

"Second graded RPN?"....why thank you! What a nice compliment! /sarcasm

Well Sado, you graduated with a degree in nursing. You didn't graduate with a practice permit therefore can you really call yourself an RN?

CONGRATS!!!!!!
