Maricopa Waiting List / Placement / Timestamps 2010+

U.S.A. Arizona

Hey everyone, I wanted to start a place for people to post and repost about waitlist times, placement runs, and their timestamps.

It is very hard searching for all the information and maybe people will access this thread and keep it updated with information so we all can get some idea on where we stand in line for Maricopa Nursing Placement.

As for me I have a

6/11/10 8:01:32 Timestamp. The placement just ran on March 6th,2012 and I was not placed. On the application website it says that the placement did NOT reach the June timestamps. This will mark 5 semesters that I was not placed (was expecting a 3 semester wait)

I am curious how far the placement ran. If people that were placed during the last placement run (3/6/12) come across this thread and would be willing to post their timestamp and what school choice number (1 through 5) they were placed in that would give an indicator how far away it is.

With almost 2500 people still on the waiting list it looks like it can be a 4-5 year wait for people just now getting on it. :(

Look forward to chatting with all of you and good luck.

I called yesterday, they said they will do reaffirment this week, and start placing by the end of the month. Hopefully that's the case, this wait feels like a lifetime! Time stamp 4/2013

Wow good to hear. They keep changing it when I call. I wonder how the wait for me can be a year or less I was told ? I was put into the wait list this feb , but you have been waiting since 2013? You would think my wait would be longer? It may have to do with how many schools you put for the program. If you don't mind my asking how many school did you put in for? I'm curious to know to give me an idea for myself. Thanks

There are still people who applied when the wait was longer. But there are less of them now. Also, if waiting for only specific programs, the wait can be extended. If you fill all 5 choices and are willing to go anywhere, it is likely that you will get in in less than 3 semesters.

Red Kryptonite - My instructor told me that the shorter wait list reason is two fold. The MCCCD program just increased their HESI entrance exam score requirement. So those who barely skimmed by have to retake to pass or not be in the program. And then she said there are less applications now, so I'm sure there is some truth to your thought about people realizing nursing isnt going to save them from the economy and poor job outlooks of other fields as nursing isnt much better right now.

Oh thanks for the info. You think nursing job outlook isn't good? I have always known it to be a great path.

I have one of the older stamps at December 2012, however, I specifically needed a night/weekend program, so I had to defer when I was placed last semester in a day program. I expect to get into one of my top 2 choices this fall.

time stamp 4/2013- I was placed last semester, to start spring 2015, to my fourth pick @ Phoenix college but I Defered. I'm not confident I will get placed this round because I did remove phx and left only the weekend and evening on my choice options. So I'm getting anxious to find out. Hope you don't have to wait too long!

Interesting. How much did they increase the required HESI score, because forgive me, but the threshold did seem awfully low when I went through the process. (I'm currently halfway through my first semester in Gateway's fast track LPN program, which has the same HESI requirement as the RN programs.) The fact that they've made it retroactive makes me think perhaps they recognized that as well.

I'm unsure of the difference but I took the HESI in November and applied in December of last year amd the HESI requirements were 80 in English and 75 in math.

The Phoenix job market looks to be pretty difficult for new grads, specifically those looking for hospital jobs.

I have however noticed a slight change in hospital job descriptions lately. I've been searching job listings for nurses for over a year now just because I like to see what's out there and lately some of the ads say "prefer one year exp but open to a new grad" or something like that. I thought it was an interesting change from previous ads that didn't even mention new grads at all.

Thanks! I may have to wait a little because I don't have all of the slots filled.

Is that with a bsn? I never ever thought it would be hard for an rn to get a job, but I guess I was wrong. I don't get why it is so hard when all I hear is there is such a nursing shortage. I guess I'll find out myself when I graduated. For now I am a cna and there seems to be plenty of jobs for that. I'm waiting to get into the program. Thank for the feedback!

Has anyone passed the nursing program? I'm curious on any feedback I can get and advice, tips or just anything period. I'm suppper nervous and anxious. I wish I knew someone here that went into the program and could give feedback. Thanks

I am a CNA also, and I think that having a connection to a hospital and experience in that setting may help us when it comes to finding RN jobs.
